How Much Did You Pay For Your Cobalt

I actually talked to a dealer today. I wanna buy a Cobalt and have three offers from 3 dealers. Two are only offering me invoice. Another is offerin me invoice minus $100. If u live in the NJ area, im talkin bout Franchini, Crane, and Schumacher. I just wanna know if invoice minus watever rebate is gonna be available when i pick up the car (almost two months after i order it) is a good deal. Did you guys pay over or under or exactly invoice?

I have almost 8k for down payment but my parents borrow me the rest or il wait for 0% APR. Someone said that they might not have that this year (usually comes in late june, right?), but i wanna know for sure. Plus does anyone know when a higher rebate is comin (1k?) or when it came last year?

Thanks...

I really don't know. They had a new black one(mine) and a used red one on the lot. Both 2.4ls.
They dropped to $19,500 right off the bat. All I did was tell him that I was there to buy, give me a good deal and I'll sign the lease and drive off the lot THAT day.
He went to 18,5 after I told him that I would drop $4k on a down payment. Then he told me that included a $500 GM discount. I told him that I was pissed that he didn't tell me about the discount up front, it should be 18,5 BEFORE the discount. He waffled and it became 18.
THEN...I went to lunch with my parents and my girlfriend. Left my old car on the lot. Told him I was going to check out some other dealers but I would be back later to pick up my car.
When I got back about two hours later, he caved a little more and made it 17,650 when I told him that he could do a little better than his offer. I was shooting for 17,500, so I was happy with the final result.

Main points.
1)Confidence, Don't let him shove a price down your throat, remember that HE wants you to buy a car from him, not the other way around. (I was pratically salivating over my car, but I played it cool like I was just buying new shoes)
2)Bring some bargaining collateral to the table. Like a good trade in or a hefty down payment.
3)Team up with an old pro. (My dad, the old salt) To act as a naysayer. (I.e. Have him say stuff like, "you could get a Tiburon for less than this, he wont come down any lower let's just go")
4)Walk away if he wont budge. Go to the nearest other chevy dealer and tell them What you want, how much you want to pay, and that you've just been at the first dealer and he wont budge, how would YOU guys like my business? Dealers will do trades for you, takes about a week and costs about $500 extra, but Dealer #2 may drop $1,500 on the price, so you STILL win. (Then go back to the first dealer and tell them that Dealer 2 will sell for $1,500 less, MATCH IT. If they cave then, you just saved yourself $500. )
5)Don't settle. If a local dealer won't work with you, I guarantee there's one within 100 miles that will. I went to one about 2 hours drive from where I live.

Good Luck!

If you do list how much you paid, tell me if wat options.
Do you mean sticker price? Invoice price is what the dealership paid for the car and if they gave you an offer of $100 under the invoice then you need to get over to that dealership asap and sign the paperwork. I highly doubt that they gave you an offer of $100 off invoice. Ask them to see the invoice and they should show you it.

For an SS/SC: $17000 (and then I took another $2500 off with a GM credit card...well worth getting if you like GM vehicles, www.gmcard.com). That was for a Black SS/SC w/sunroof, performance pkg, XM Radio, extra side airbag safety package.

If you want a similar deal, they still have one silver one equipped the same way here near the Atlanta airport. It would be a new car, and they would DEAL on it. (Disadvantage is that I think it had 1800 miles on it).

Here is a link to the window sticker using tinyurl http://tinyurl.com/2wzyz9

Still, it would count as a new car, and I'll bet you can get it for $17000, plus a $650 doc/prep fee (junk fee), plus tax.

I don't work for the dealer, but could give you pointers on this deal if you wanted it. (Supposedly they also pay $100 to me if a customer brings in a new prospect that buys)

If you don't have a trade in, can get "external" financing (like at a credit union or bank), and can get a one way plane ticket after finalizing the deal, it would be a pretty good deal. Especially since it comes with the Recaros, and you would have that 36/36 full warranty.

And a nice drive home...
