"STOP" and check this out! *56K- not likely*

Thanks to mkulrey13 for the LED 3rd brakelight kit, and KindredX for the write up... here's an afternoon of pulling and putting together my inner tailights! It wasn't too hard, just a lot of repetative soldering and taping (cuz i ran out of shrink sleeves). The job from in behind the taillights looks awful, but its watertight and secure. (I didn't take a picture of it, but it's not too far of off KindredXs. Anyway, here's the video. It's real nice, eight LED's in each side. And you can totally see it in the day!
This is what Chevrolet should've did from the factory!

Nice, that's what Chevy should have done originally! I fully agree with that!

BTW What song was that...?

should have hooked them into the brake/turn of each outter taillight. Would have look sweet with both lights working as the turn signal

Haaha. It does doesn't it.
Thanks fellas. I was thinking of tying it into the tails/signals, but then that adds considerable more wiring and some kind of other electrical to differentiate between stop and turn. (think Caddilac CTS) and right now, electrical > me.
And the music in the background is XM81, so whatever was playing at that time, some kind of disco dance obviously... i never switch it off that channel!

huh? some sort of other electrical? i think there are three wires going to the tail. One ground, one for the brake/turn and one for the running lights. You tie it into the wire for the brake/turn near the light and now your inner light works for the brakes AND turn signal for that side. But your right it is a considerable amount of wire but following the stock harness shouldn't be too much trouble.

im working on something neato right now i'll post up when im done.

so what is the difference between having the inners and outers on, and just the inners??

what controls that?

I wanted a high/low intensity LED turn/brake if i was going to do that. Not just on and off, so just tied into the high mount.
And i can't wait to see it!

That was with the key on, the tails come on, but with the key off, the tails don't come on. I know, it's the first vehicle i've seen do that.

Mkulrey13 sells kits, for something around $15 bucks, and the install was simple, but it took all afternoon just from being tedious.

heres a quick peak at what i've got done

LED rings inside the outer tails for the brake/turn. Then using a stock bulb with the lead for the brake/turn cut off so it only turns on for the running lights. And im gonna do this but tie them together. should be interesting.

8 LEDs look pretty good. How about this? 24 LEDs in each backup light.

I have been thinking about throwing some LEDS in the other two tail lights for a while now. Glad to someone did it. I want to wire them to the other two taillights so they are always on.

Too bad my idea is a little more complicated than just drilling holes in the taillight housing. Would have been so much easier and probably done already.
