What power gains are you getting from the short ram? I heard the long ones make better power. If this is true I will stick with a longer intake. Are you designing one of those?

 

I doubt we'll have the Cold Air Intake version, not for a few more months at least. Typical power gains is about 6 or 7 horsepower.

By "Short Ram Intake" do you mean it sucks hot air from under the hood?

 

I would assume so, most all short rams are located in the engine compartment.

I personally think our stock tubing is fine and attaching a cone filter to the end in the fender will get you the same result.

It would be interesting to see some dyno's with stock tube and cai tube.

 

Who builds these short ram intakes your selling? I don't want something foreign installed if it doesn't yield consistant results.

 

That's what I was thinking, it might look cool under the hood but if it's sucking hot air then it's not cool. Let's wait and see what frankmckeever has to say about there new product.

 

i'd really like to see this short ram and you saying it will not throw a cel, when our AIT sensors are mounted on the airbox. how exactly do you plan on dealing with that issue? the only way i see feasible is to put another ait sensor on the intake and if that can be done for $150, it might just be worth it lol

Our stock intakes are Cold air intakes already due to space.

makes no sense... the stock ones would take up more room than a short ram...

 

Most short ram intakes do suck in a lot of hot air unless the engine compartment has good air flow - ours doesn't. I've always thought of them as a 'show' mod, not a 'go' mod. But, since it is shorter, your S/C will make so much more noise during acceleration.

I'm currently building a drivers side headlight intake out of plexiglass that will be used during drag only - not streetable. No filter, just common window screen or panty hose to keep the bugs out of the supercharger. That's my idea of a short ram intake

Still waiting on AEM or K&N for A CIA, but sounds good at least we will be getting some aftermarket started.....

the SS already has an intake that is or is at least very similar to a cold air intake... the only thing I would ever want to do is find a better filter and a hood with a scoop to shoot some mroe air its way

 

listen what we need to do is take the short ram intake and put on the carbon fiber ss hood. the cold air will go in through the scoop and into the short ram. JMO forced air induction. :;

 

What I was basically saying is that there is no room for an open element filter where the intake is for the supercharger, it would need to be in the wheel well.

 

you knowi still have my old oem filter box from my cougar, i might try to see if it can be fitted up to do a hood scoop of some sort. as soon as i get a chance to get into the garage again i'll measure it out.

the way that filter box is made, if it can be fitted properly, it would work, plus it's already using a standard size k&n filter so that would not be hard to find... damn i wish i had that thing at my house now lol

 

if your gonna look into buying that y dont you just get a air filter to slam right on the sc? (the ram air would not be as good at the stock cai would it?) seems like a down grade to me!

 

I don't think that's really an option. There are clearance issues, and a censor which is located in the intake tube before the air box would have to be relocated.

At least with a "ram air" hood, you can place some of the components on the underside of the hood to solve some of the clearance issues.

 

I posted about this in the thread that was about the CF hood. I think that the RK Sport hood is a good starting place, its scoop isn't as far back on the hood as others. But there is a lot of problems as far as clearance for a ram air, but I think everyone knows that.

 

MarcS, since I don't my car yet IDK what the sensor on the intake tube does. What purpose does the sensor serve? And, I also asked this before on another thread, could we not just get rid of the airbox in the wheel well altogther and replace it with a cone filter and re-route this sensor somehow??
