I'm about to order a SS/SC, need advice

I have a question for all of you. I'm about to get back from Afghanistan, and I test drove a SS/SC in Sept. while I was on R&R. Needless to say I was sold on it. But here's the thing. I want to get exactly what I am looking for. A 2007 Silver SS/SC with no sunroof, lsd, and xm. My dealer (who my family gets all their vehicles from) is helping me out in finding one. Thing is, he can't find a 2007 SS/SC with no sunroof. We both know that they make them without a sunroof. I don't really want a leaky sunroof in northern New York with the insane amounts of snow and ice they have up there. So....

He has the 2006 red SS/SC with lsd and recaros in the showroom that I test drove. He hasn't sold it. I know I would get an amazing price on it, but it still has that sunroof and I don't know how comfortable I feel with a dealer car (it was driven for a short while by one of the employees) that has been sitting on the lot for the past 6 months. Also, I don't know if I want a sunroof even on a 2007 because of the problems I'm hearing from all of you guys and gals. He can order from the factory a 2007 silver SS/SC with my options, but it'll take 6-8 weeks to get. So here's the question.

Do I take a the dealer 2006 car, or do I take a 2007 with a sunroof, or do I wait for the factory ordered one with no sunroof? I've been wanting this car since before I deployed back in Feb '06, and I'm a little anxious to get into it. So what do I do?

And if you couldn't tell, I just don't want a sunroof because of more structural rigidity, and I really don't see the need for one at all.

I personally have never seen nor heard of a SS/SC without a sunroof, it's like a unicorn. If it were me, I'd go for the dealer car since you can't get recaro's anymore and its bound to be a cheaper price. Either way it still has a warranty so if anything were to go wrong it should be easily fixed.

I'd go with teh dealer car aswell. Get a amzing deal and the recaros are awesome! The sunroof, I wouldnt worry about that. But get so something you will behappy with. And if thats only with a silver SS/SC w/out sunroof, order it! A dealer down here had like 3 of the SS/SC w/out sunroofs this past summer! But they didnt have the G85

I don't know if I would go with the dealer car but I would get mine with a sunroof.

I've had no problems with mine. Even if you do have a problem, it's called a warrenty, use it. You should search for an 06 with recaros...they are comfy!

If you plan on owning the car for a long time, then get exactly what you want....even if it takes 8 weeks, its worth the wait in the long run, cause you won't be kicking your own ass everyday cause you are stuck with a color you don't like and a sunroof you didn't want.

And what the F....you can't get recaros anymore? why?

I think because I will be owning and working on this car for a longgggg time, like 6 or 7 years at the least, I will get exactly what I want. A silver 2007 SS/SC with no sunroof, lsd, xm. I want a ride I'll be completely content with, and with the least amount of headaches. Even though it'll be modded.......muhahahahahaha.

There is still an 06 sitting on a lot near the Atl airport...read my post here...nearly perfect, except it does have the sunroof. However, you could make this one of the best buys ever...I think you could get it for $17000, and it would still be considered a new car...

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/general-cobalt-68/new-leftover-2006-silver-cobalt-ss-sc-probably-still-best-price-deal-45262/

A one way flight from Philly to Atlanta can be as cheap as $84 on Airtran...
