Angry Wind Noise....after 4 dealer visits

I have been complaining of wind noise on my 07ss/sc since 3 weeks after i got the vehicle. I have been to the delaer four times now and i still have the noise.
The noise is coming from the front pillar area, and does nto happen all the time. The wind has to hit it right for the noise to occur.
So far both door seals have been replaced, and the windshield cowl has been re-sealed. I am going insane. I ahve had this noise for 80% of the time I had my car. Any suzzestions?

I have had both door seals replaced and the door re-aligned. So that is likely not it. I hope it is not a turn up the radio thing. If a dealer can not fix a problem can't you return the car or something?

I actually did record the sound on my phone. lol. It is just awind noise that sounds like it is rattling plastic almost. It happens for only brief periods. It is never a continous noise.

Does you car have a sunroof? If so, that might be where the air leak is starting. Other than that, you might have a hole in the welding near the a pillar. Is there any water coming from where the sound is?

All cars have wind noise. Some more than others. Wind noise is most noticeable at speeds above 45 mph. I have 2 06 ss/sc coblats. Both of which have the exact same windnoise that you are talking about. Do not worry about it. Keep in mind that we have the same $12000 car as the LS owners. We just paid more for the drive train. The car is not a Lexus or Mercedes. It does not have air tight gaps. Quit hassling your dealership. There is nothin they can do.

It is not normal wind noise. it is a whistle through the door that is intermitent and it did nto do it for the first 3000km. I used to drive a 1998 neon and it made less noise.........my cobalt can bve very quiet when it is not making this noise

Has a tech rode with you and actually heard the noise? If so, they should be able to either tell you it's normal (doesn't sound like it's normal) or be able to fix it. You would be surprised at how many times I have ridden with people and they couldn't reproduce the noise they want fixed. Wind noise can be very difficult to find and fix, and it's hard to fix what you can't here.Be persistent, but try to keep your cool and you should be able to get it fixed.
As a suggestion (suzzestion?), try putting masking tape over door and window gaps and driving the car to see if the noise goes away. This is a good method of finding wind noise.

The door fit probably isnt quite correct.

Its an old fix, but put your knee into the door and pull down on the frame of it a little. that will bend the door into the car a bit more and cause a better seal. Its not exactly the easiest to do though when its your car...

Check the rubber around the window.

My car has the same wind noise. I've delt with it since day one because I know that some cars just have more wind noise, especially two door coupes. Two door sedans usually don't have much wind noise though.

One day, on the way home from work, I stopped in the middle of the road because I got so tired of listening to the noise. Here it is, 6:30 at night, 20* F outside and I'm stopped in the middle of a country road looking at my driver's door trying to find the problem.

That's when I finally saw it. At some point in time the window had caught the edge of the window seal and pushed it up into the door frame. The wind was going up into the door frame and causing a whistle.

I took it to the dealership a few days later and they're gonna fix it under warranty. They're just waiting for the parts right now.

Only Mercedes makes a 2 door sedan. All other sedans are 4 doors.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sedan

Two-door sedan

While a two door sedan is more accurately described as a coupé, the SAE defines such a vehicle as any two-door model with rear accommodation greater than or equal to 33 cubic feet (0.934 mł) in volume (a calculation made by multiplying the legroom, shoulder room, and headroom). By this standard, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, and Mercedes-Benz CL-Class coupes are all two-door sedans. Only a few sources, however (including the magazine Car and Driver), use the two-door sedan label in this manner.

In the popular vernacular, a two-door sedan is defined by appearance and not by volume—vehicles with a so-called formal roofline are called two-door sedans, while those with the more common sloping backlight are called coupes.

The Mazda RX-8 meets the volume requirement to be called a sedan, but it has vestigial rear-hinged rear doors, so some call it 2+2-door sedan.
That's an odd definition compared to what I'm used to though.

I've always known a coupe to be a hard top, and a sedan to have a full window frame.

Also taken from that link

A sedan seats four or more and has a fixed roof that is full-height up to the rear window. Most commonly it is a four-door; two-door is rarer but they do occur (more so historically). In the U.S., this term has been used to denote a car with fixed window frames, as opposed to the hardtop style where the sash, if any, winds down with the glass. As hardtops have become rarer, this distinction is no longer so important.
As you see, it's all perspective.

Regardless... the f-ing cars with the f-ing window frames don't normally have as much f-ing wind noise as those that don't have full f-ing window frames.

The problem is the top of the fender where it meets the a pillar. The Rattle you hear is the
fender vibrating on the a pillar. There isa peice of putty type of material tha is supoused to hopld it away that you will see has slide down.
Had the same problem .Check it out if it is touching the paint will be missing as well.

I have had this to my 07 ss/sc and it was the sunroof not sealing correctly. i had it replaced but now the sunroof is not flush with the body of the vehicle when its closed. I got to take mine back for further repaires.
