GM Stage 1 or CAI?
GM Stage 1 or CAI?
Heys guys I'm trying to figure out what mod I should do to my car first. The GM Stage 1 or a CAI? I'm kind of in a bind I have enough to to the stage 1, but I figured I'd ask someone on here first. So...Wich one would you guys recomend doing first a CAI or the stage 1? ohh I also turned up my boost by about 1 1/2 lbs. by adjusting the screw on my wastegate canister or whatever it's called, I forgot the proper name sorry if I sound like an idiot.

stage 1 is a nice power booster but that smaller pulley is really nice on the stage 2 so why do a stage 1.
CAI is less money and will give a little taste of extra boost.
oh yea, and adjust that screw back....

IMO you shouldnt bother with a CAI. Do the airbox mod. You won't be able to tell a difference w/ that or a CAI until you start making 250+ whp. Also if you are planning on giving up your warrentee don't go with a GM stage kit. Go strait to a tunned 60lb kit like Tag's, because you are probly gonna want to move up to 60lb injectors anyway. Just my $.02
And on the Boost Bypass valve PLease adjust it back. Doing that is making boost the wrong way. It can damage your engine. By adjusting the screw you are taking away the boost bypass feature, which saves gas, your supercharger, and your motor.
There is a little screw on you BBV that changes the amount that the BBV can open and close.

You can adjust the screw on the bypass valve , but if you go too far all your doing is binding it in the air passage ,making it very hard for the bypass actuator to open it , if not making it stick completely. I adjusted mine to where it would start to bind , then add more positive adjustment to where it opens smooth . The only reason i messed with it was because i was told by a tech that some arent adjusted right from the factory .
Stage one vs a CAI is a no brainer IMHO , i went stage one then bought a used stage 2 Pulley and hub and saved a bunch of money . Stage one and stage 2 tunes are the same so you can get an aftermarket pulley system too and be fine up till 2.85 pulley . later

get the stage I kit and an after market pulley, or get the tag 60# injector, pulley and tune all depends on how far you want to go.I think the air box mod works just as good as an aftermarket intake unless you are trying to make 300hp.Then you will need the 2.5" pulley and header and exhaust.
It depends on what plans you have for the car. If you are looking for more than 270whp then buy the intake and save for 60's and tuning. Also switch back the screw since it will only effect when not WOT. The supercharger will only put out so much with a given pulley size.
This is the screw.

This is the screw.
