Suspension creaking

I've got an '07 SS Seban, just purchased in November. Now that it's cold out here in NJ I'm hearing a lot of front suspension creaking over bumps. It seems to be worse the colder it gets. Anyone else have this problem? Is it just normal with the material used in the bushings or something, or has anyone had this corrected under warranty?

Thanks!

I creak more when it gets cold too! It was -14 here yesterday, my front end sounded like it was going to fall out of the car. It's probably nothing too worry about.

between the fluids in the struts, the grease in the fittings of the suspension points, etc... there are alot of stuff gummed up in this weather. Mine does it until the car gets warm-ish and the parts are moving around alot.

Now, a clunking noise, might be another matter, as someone stated the sway bar end links, intermed. steering shaft, or could be a bad strut or wheel bearing ( not likely in a new, low-mile car ).

Thanks for the help everyone, I'm much more confident it's just a noise issue that GM's bean counters didn't feel like spending the $$$ to address.

When it's below 20 degrees F, the creak is pretty much always there no matter what... but when it's warmer than that it does seem to go away as you drive and everything warms itself up with friction and such. Interesting that you should note the same thing Denniss!

From what my service tech told me, and from a post I read on here a few days ago.. it's the suspension bushing mounts.

They didn't have any left in stock, because they have already replaced a few on other cobalts, so they had to order them from the US.... Going back on tuesday to get them put in.

there might be a problem with your GM suspension bushing, have it check, it might be the cause of creaking..
