Max boost on supercharger?? and smallest pulley size??

I was wondering what the max boost on our superchargers and the smallest pulley that we can go with forged internals.... Im saying if you could get one custom fabbed that would be smaller than a 2.5 pulley what would be the smallest pulley capable also considering the blower was ported and all

I love these posts. they make me laugh cause we have to think theorectically of what could be!??

lets get real - WHat is anyone getting max boost for this little super charger and what RPM is it spinning to get it?

I am first.
2.79 pulley
18.5lbs (130kpa in canada)
RPM 15,053 (6/2.79*7000rpm)

see i dont see how you can overspin it...since my buddies engine will be built they are going to custom fab him a smaller pulley than 2.5 with the max boost of 35lbs...going to be pushing 350 some hp...and this was with a very experience tuning shop that has built the fastest wrx in the world.....

the thing doesnt do **** after 18-20 anyway, how can you not see how you can oversping it? Just because he has a built engine doesnt mean he wont overspin the supercharger come on now, m62 loses its efficientcy after like 18lbs of boost anyway, smaller the pulley the faster the rotors will spin, take that with a 7k rev limiter and say bye, just because they built the fastes wrx doesnt mean **** this is totaly different car and totally different forced induction.

yeah youd need to inject liters of methanol to keep it cool enough but good luck buring it all off.
and a 2" pulley would run you around 25 psi, not 35

stock=3.35
.1 = 1psi roughly

3.35
-
2.00
=
1.35 x 10 = 13.5
stock boost is 12.5ish, so 12.5 plus 13.5=26 at the most.

LOL .... yeah your absolutely right. I tried to save the thread to discuss reality but that is the way it goes. Sometimes you save'em and sometimes they go bad, real bad. this is like the worst I have seen in a long time.

I think everyone is gonna agree that a 2 inch pulley is not gonna work with the m62 blower. The lowest I,ve seen people go is 2.5. But i would be curious to see someone test smaller and post the numbers. IMO

haha I wanna see this 2" pulley. HAve fun with all the belt slack, ull need a bigger idler pulley, new adjustable tensioner, and prob the stage 2 belt maybe even a larger crank pulley or supercharger spacer to take up all the belt slack. but please post dyno numbers for this 2" pulley for 35psi. I think it will go something like BOOM!

hey it aint mine...Im just saying my friend went to AR fabrication in my town who is know for building subarus so yah they arent all to familiar with our ecotech engines.. Neway He is getting them to build his engine and they told him that they could do what i said in previous posts...6 Large for a built engine and i guess a tune and the smaller pulley...This aint some bullshit im feeding you all this is just the bullshit that i was told so i went on here to see if it could actually be done

tell your buddy to walk away because the turbo gurus there have no idea how a blower works if they are telling him this kinda stuff... run forest run!

from what i've read the 2.4 is the smallest you can go w/o machining the snout to fit a smaller one. *shrug*

Seems to me the guy was asking a question fellas not lookin to get flamed.For those of you who don't understand how this works let me explain.You ask a reasonable question on the forum,someone anwers to the best of thir knowledge.I'm sure most of us don't know evrything there is to know about cars thats why we come here to ask questions-get it?Pretty simple concept i think.When i saw his ? i wondered myself haw hard you could spin one of the m-62's.For those who answered like a civil human being thank you.Flame away children!

I have been running a 2.4 for about 3 months now, and I beat the daylights out of my car. No problems what so ever. I have the Devil's Own meth injection kit with a 5gph nozzle on it. The supercharger stays ice cold. I have a 7400 revlimiter, but shift around 7000 when i'm racing. I did however have to get a stage 2 belt for my car, because with the stock belt it would slip real bad in the high RPMs. But the stage 2 belt combined with the larger idler from Intense, and the belt is tight as hell. I actually have trouble getting the belt over the ribs of the 2.4" pulley, and after logging we saw no loss of boost, so that solved that problem. I want to get my car back to the dyno because i haven't had it there since i had a 2.7" pulley on it.

EDIT: the 2.4" pulley came from ZZperformance.com. It is not listed as a cobalt part, but is listed under the GTP pulleys. They have a 2.35" that i'm going to switch to soon. The pulleys from ZZperformance use the same hub as intense which is what is on my SC. Also, I had to machine about another 1/8" off the SC snout to fit the 2.4 on after the 2.5

Wondering how high your boost is must be over 21 psi. just reflashed today 260 WHP 224 TQ sae corrected max boost with my 2.8 pulley is 19 PS when we tuned to the meth gained jumped from 228 WHP had it done at Race Related. Best of all No Knock
