LS Popping out of 2nd

So tonight I'm taking off, shift into 2nd and as I goto accelerate the shifter pops out of gear. The scenario repeats as I limp home. So, does this mean my tranny is toast or could it be a adjustment problem with my TWM short throw.

Not too sure about the adjustment but under most circumstances it is a 2nd gear synchronyzer.

When I bought mine it kept popping out of second when I would let the clutch out while turning. Since the car was new, I new it had to be a linkage problem. I took off the shifter boot and re adjusted the linkage according to GM procedure. I havent had a problem since, that was about 18,000 miles ago.

Took her in to the dealership today. They did the fuel injectors first. I stood and watched the tech and we talked about my cold air intake and he was like, "Does that help any" and we were talking about things the guy was really cool. Then I took him for a quick spin and showed him the shifter popping out of gear...(2nd is unusable now) so he was like okay, "let me try adjusting the shifter since I know when I call GM they're gonna ask me if I tried that.

Well he did that, same problem. So GM wants them to pull apart my tranny. The tech was like they SHOULD cover it. The guy was really cool and he asked me if I had replaced my injectors(with aftermarket ones) at first and said that if I had he would just hand me the stock ones from the recall and not even touch it.

Sterling Chevy in Sterling seems to be pretty good. Didn't give me any **** about my CAI or exhuast.

let me ask you something did you do the cutout for the console correctly cause that could be your main problem right their, if you didin't do the cut out good that could be why the shifter comes out of 2nd just a suggestion for you to check.

Yes, that is fine...no problems with it at all. I checked and double checked before I put it all back together.

Oh yah, another thing to check, look at the trans were the shifter linkage connects. On my car there was a hose laying on top of the linkage, causing me troubles getting into first and third. I zip tied the hose out of the way to fix the problem. Something like that could be pushing on your shifter linkage, causing it to pop out of gear. Just a though.

Stopped in today when I got off work...They are going to replace the gearset/sychro for 2nd and a part on the shifter fork.

oh...and lol...at 5000 some odd miles my clutch is already half worn...whoopsies...

They said if I could have a new clutch by tomorrow or wednesday they'd put it in for me...If only I had the money right now

They'll just reuse my old clutch...*sigh*

I drive through there about every day...looking and dreaming about the '05 SS/SC thats been sitting on their lot for atleast 5 months.

http://www.sterlingchevrolet.biz/details.asp?vin=P227

it says automatic tranny but thats a typo.

But I talk to the techs there alot and MOST of them are cool. Alot of the people that work there drive lifted Chevy trucks.

That is the first time in my entire life that I heard of a clutch disc or pressure plate causing a trans to pop out of on particular gear. I could understand that it would not go into second because of the clutch slipping but that symptom should occur on the other gear selections also.
Very unusual......

It wasn't the clutch causing it. It was the 2nd gear synchro and gearset...but since my clutch was half worn they replaced it for me.
