Hi everyone. I went to the show today and got a lot of pictures. I so need to get a better camera. I'll only put thumbnails in here otherwise this would be huge!

I have created a gallery catagory for the show if any other attendees want to post their pics in it.

So first, if you have never been to the Chicago Show, it is the largest one this side of the planet. McCormick place convention center is huge.



First a couple non-Cobalt pics. Here's the Ford Interceptor, the new Camaro, the G8, and the Volt. There where obviously a lot of other cars, but it's just one thread!



Here's a bunch of cutaways of the LNF engine. Variable valve timing cam gear spring, the high pressure fuel pump, the piston design for the direct injection, and the head with the injector in view.



This is the LE5 engine hybrid system



Now these are the GM Accesories lip kit for the Cobalt. I haven't seen it before now. It is VERY similar to the RK Sport kit, but "thinner" It has the same shape and profiles.

 

The rest of these are some customs that where in a completely different display from the Chevy stuff. The experienced will recognize the 272. I bet you think you recognize the silver wide body, don't you? Well, the one you all remember is a sedan, this one is a coupe. I haven't seen it before.



Then a completely new one is the Prismatic Gold painted one. The pictures don't do it justice. It had an awesome meta-morphic color paint job, and a 4 panel sunroof.



The 272 is probably done on the tour circuit. With the refresh design in 2008, and since its 3 years old now, I'm betting we won't see it anymore. So, I sweet talked the security and got a pic with it.

Thats so cool GM brought the the 272 , widebody and the green panorama car . I didnt think Id ever get to see them in person . Now I got more to look forward to other than the Camaro vert and the G8

Thanks for posting them pics, unfortunately I may not be able to go to the Chicago Auto Show this year..Damn work and school. Hopefully other members will post their pics so I'll at least get to see some of the many cars.

Halfcent, you don't happen to have any more pics of the Ford Interceptor do you?

 

BTW the green/gold one isn't new at all.... its the cobalt open air coupe... the concept came out around with the wide body and 272....IM SUPER JEALOUS OF U BEING ABLE TO GET THAT CLOSE TO THE 272...does the 272 have projectors like Merc made?

Ive never seen the wide body as a sedan got a pic?

hey halfcent what did you think about the exhaust on that cobalt how it is in the center ya know??? and did you like the lexus concepts like the blue 4 door and silver 2 door ones?? they are sick!!! and toyota's concept!!!

 

I don't have any more pictures of the Interceptor. But there are lots of other members going to the meet that could take some pictures for you.

The 272 headlights where a modified stock unit. There was a lense assembly over the bulb that is not part of stock headlight.

I'll try to find the sedan pics.

The center exit exhaust was very good looking. It was simple enough, but getting a facia that is cut with the center exit design is something nobody is making.

You're right, I'm wrong. This was the car I was thinking about from the 2005 GM small car bash:



That car was NOT at the show.

 

If they were to make that green open air concept, or the 272, I would sell my current car and buy that one...I really like the open air concept and am very happy to get to see it this sunday. I got a digital cam with 5.1 meg pixels (it's ok) and a 2 gb card, that = about 800 pics if anyone would like something in particular I can try to get it.

You're lucky you go to sit next to the 272! I just took a bunch of pictures!

I saw the 272 and it's a very nice Cobalt, but other than the appearance, what's so special about it? I feel like I'm missing something.

 

I was too lazy to take pics on my cell phone, but damn! The Lexus IS-F was my favoriye car there hands down! Did anyone get a pic of it?

 

You bet! The first time a Lexus ever took my breath away! Give me a moment, I gotta get my hard drive.

 

It has 270 something horsepower!

 

Here they are- my friend took them, and I just found out he sucks with a camera. I wish I'd remembered my camera; his 1.4 MP obviously isn't cutting it.

But man, I love that blue!

I was very dissapointed with the chicago auto show this year. One thing this year is 98% of the cars you couldnt even open the hood. wtf is that. They want us to buy these cars and not even be able to look inder the hood at a car show?!? Other than that it wasnt too bad.

 

^^^ I will admit it was a bit less than satisfactory as well. I like the cobalt amount there though.

 

there were quite a few there. I kinda had to rush this year because I had another member of the site from MI comming to Milwaukee to do a trunk lid swap we just finished.

 

Well , I went today . One of the main reasons I went was to see the Orange Camaro vert ......and it WASNT THERE . We kept lookign and looking and finally asked a chevy rep . They said it got shipped out to California for a car show Saturday night

Sitting in the Z06 again , rowing thru the gears and thinking how completely perfect this thing is kinda made up for it al lil
