First Ticket In The SS
First Ticket In The SS
Well I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, but stuff like this always has to come at the wrong time.. I got a ticket just when I am not making a ton of money because of WSIB and hurting myself at work.. So money is a little tight... Why do tickets come at the worst times....
Well the ticket was for too dark of tint.. I knew it was gonna happen at one point because during the day in the summer I went to Wonderland with some friends and I got pulled over and warned by an OPP it was to dark... So tonight (Feb 20) I left my buddy's aparment (white oaks) and about 20 feet down the road (the plaza beside it) I have a cop pull behind my and pull me over.. I rolled down my window and he says the tint was so dark he didn't even see that I had a passenger.. So off he goes with insurance, ownership and licence and comes back with all of that plus a present... YES!!! It's a yellow piece of paper and a money amount at the bottom .. Boy do I hate tickets...
This is the first ticket in a long time I have gotten.. The first in the Cobalt of course.. It's beem a few years since I got a ticket.. It's been even longer since the last time I got a ticket for something petty like this (like not a serious ticket)... Oh well live and learn..
Any else have any ticket stories that they have gotten in there Cobalt??
All I gotta say is... I am lucky I have only ever gotten a tint ticket.... I am a little heavy footed and I would say that I have been lucky so far.. "Knock on wood"

ok def goin to be a dif law but in NY if they dont put a meter on the window tint to read how much light it lets in then you are out of the ticket because no cop can tell whether or not the tint is dark enough with the palin eye.
yea i got a ticket the other day, 45 in a 25, so 20 over. 6 points off my license and $160 dollar ticket. Not fun at all ****** cop. Story was I thought i was in a 35 and i swear i was only going 40, cop pulls me over, says 45 im like ok 10 over prolly a warning, then he says you know this is a 25 right. Im like SON OF A BITCH. oh well it happens
I "took care of" a dog one time... and cut his nuts off.
Then again, I "took care of" my wife last night and an entirely different scenerio ensued.
Maybe he wants to F the cop?
Damn, so far I have speeding twice (77 in a 35) (70 in a 40), failing to make a complete stop before turning right on red, failure to signal change in direction, and streetracing. All except the first speeding one are bullshit, just cops seeing a loud yellow car and busting my *****. The "drag racing" was me and my buddy driving 35 mph on the hwy talking between cars while leaving a race spot. Cop wrote that he "observed us trying to outperform each other". Still waiting on the court date for that one.
What can I say?....You got a warning once. You rolled the dice everyday since the warning and eventually you would lose. While I don't like these kind of tickets.....how can you complain about this situation?
How can you complain??? Easy!!!
It's a stupid ticket and a waste of time when they should have more things to worry about.. Speeding, drugs, theft, dangerous drivers, drunk drivers... Geez the list can keep going on stuff that is more important to deal with then some stupid tint on windows that isn't harming anyone.. Besides the fact that we all know it's just a money grab for the cheap ass Ontario Goverment..
I know I rolled the dice which I stated clearly in the orginal post.. I never said I was complaing about it.. I was explaining what happend and how pissed I was.. I can't complain about it since I knew sooner or later it would have happened (which I also stated)..
What pisses me off the most about this kind of stuff.. Is I think almost all cops are hipacrits (spelling is wrong I know)... They think they are above the law all the time but yet what they need to realize is they arn't above it.. They are there just inforce it.. Just like a manager as a store.. They don't own it, they just manager it for the owner.. Well the cops are just keeping the law in order for the Canadian Government.. But was it the part that irks me is the fact that many of them break the law all the time (on the job and off the job).. I once see a cop (off duty with clothes on going to work) jump the curb onto the grass just to make a right hand turn.. Now don't sit there and tell me that if he was in this cop car that he wouldn't pull someone over for the same thing.. That is what pisses me of the most.. Can anything be done about this.. Nope probably not and never will why cause the police like to hide everything and not sort out problems.. Besides the fact that it would take forever to do that.. We just need to live with the fact that in the end cops are just power trippy when they are in the "I am god" uniform..
Don't get me wrong.. I don't hate cops at all (I wanted to be one and I have lots of family who are into it and some friends into it as well).. I just hate that they think they are above the law all the time.. They seem to over time forget they are the inforcers.. Not the law makers..
End Rant
Does anyone know what the deal is with tickets and having wrong information?? I know they use to throw out tickets because of mis-prints in tickets.. But I am not sure if they still do that or not.. So far on the ticket he has spelt my name wrong, says I have a 07 Cobalt not 05 and it says I have colour cotings not coatings.. So they is alot of errors on the page.. I think there is like 1 or 2 more as well..
Any One?

wow chill out maybe he tried to imply that he shoulda tried to bribe his way out. trying to see things from another persons point of view is helpful
Dude this is a no brainer. Go to court, if the cop shows just plead that you were going to have the tint removed but you are on WSIB and couldnt afford it right now. Now if they dont buy it they will find you guilty, fine cant go up from $110, they will then ask you if you need time to pay! LoL.. yes time to pay! then you can say YES and they will give you like 90 days or something to pay! its awesome! hahaha i had like $800 worth of tickets that got dropped to like $125 they asked me if I needed time to pay, I was like " NO WAY IM PAYIN CASH" wanted to get it all done with and closed off before they changed their minds! HAHAHAH
So what is it? are you complaining or not?
'cause I'm seeing some real whiney things being typed. If this was your first time, I'd side with you and agree it's a lame ticket, but to have had a warning, and do nothing.....THEN have the ***** to try and get out of it on a (poor) technicality.
Talk about hypocritical man....

I know it sucks getting a ticket and YES it usually does come when you least need it financially. However I work in Law enforcement and there is nothing worse than approaching a car and not knowing what is going on inside the car, it can be an officer safety issue, Its not really a stupid ticket when you think of what can happen to an unsuspecting officer as he walks up to a car and gets ambushed. They show some good videos in Police college on this exact thing.
Nothing wrong with Tint, if it is just that... Tint, not almost blacking out your windows.
I understand from a point of it being unsafe if they can't see in the car.. This makes sense just I don't look at it that way cause I am no dangerous.. But then again there is alot of idiots on the road.. But oh well..
Kyle - I never complained about the ticket lol.. If I complained I wouldn't have said that I knew it was gonna happen since I got warned before.. I was stating what happened.. I was complaing because cops break the law all the time then turn around and give you a ticket for the same thing they just did.. And try to get out on a poor technicality ??? When did I say I was doing this?? I said how many errors he made and asked about it., but never did I mention that I was going to do that. Cause for me to take this to a court house and fight it would cost me a days pay in work.. When I can just go to the Justice of the Peace (traffic ticket place) and plead guilty with an explanation and it will cost me $60 for the tricket and about 30 mins of my time.. So no I never said I was gonna fight it.. Asking is different from doing..
So how am I hypocritical??? Explain I don't understand where I was saying anything that would inply this??...

The reason for pulling people over for having too dark of tint is officer safety. If you have ever walked up to a dark car after pulling it over you would know what i am talking about. Also you would be surprised how often I pull people over for improper lane change, having improper lights, or too dark of tint and they also happen to have a warrant out for their arrest , or drugs in the car, or a illegal firearm.

Fair enough.....
This one's easy...You clearly state you knew better, yet did nothing. Strike One
Dunno...That doesn't look like praise to me. Strike Two
Come on, were you asking just to be nice and let the court know to make a few corrections? Or were you asking to get out of a ticket by all rights you admit you fully deserved. Strike Three
I feel I've solidified my argument and won this case, should you want to appeal this ruling, it will be a nominal fee of $150 send to my paypal account
I know I'm totally being **** about this...but I hope you can acknowledge the time and effort this post took. In the end it's all in good fun... (for me).
As for the ticket, Most misprints are not grounds to get out of the ticket in nearly any case. But take it to court anyways, take the chance that the cop does not show and you get the ticket wiped. I know it's a day off work, but personally I'd chance it.
Have you responded to the courts yet? Ask for a first appearance with the prosecutor. They are MUCH more inclined to lower the ticket (but never fully drop it) and get it out of the court system as quick as possible. Most people do not take this option, but it is your best chance by far.
Good luck man.
P.S...did you at least take the f-cking tint off yet???
