Photoshop Contest #5: Malibu
Photoshop Contest #5: Malibu
Another week brings another Photoshop Contest...
PLEASE READ THE BELOW CAREFULLY!
...And pay special attention to the emboldened bits...
So here is how it works. Take the below image, and modify it in anyway you see fit. However, your final image must bear some sort of resemblance to the original photo. After all, its a chop contest, the goal is to change the original image into something new, something different. Change backgrounds, bumpers, colors, wheels, etc. Whatever you want to show off your abilities at photoshop on the image below.
Instead of posting your chop here in the thread, we'll adapt a system much like they have over at GMInsideNews.
Chopping will become anonymous. It's much better this way, so that a persons past abilities or popularity in this forum will not sway votes. I think it is much more fair, and prevents people from stealing others ideas. So instead of posting your image in this thread, we will do the following.
From now on, you will e-mail it to ssnetchopcontest@hotmail.com. Send your final image in a JPG file format. Try and keep your final image size at least 640x480px, larger is fine. Also, in the email, include the user name you use here on the forum. Do not, repeat, do not include your name or user name on your photoshopped image.
The contest will be open for one week after the posting of this thread. After the one week is up, no more entries will be received. A new thread will be opened for voting, where each chop will be identified with a letter instead of a user name, keeping in check with the anonymity thing we're going for.
In that thread, people can then vote for their favorite chop, in a numbered list.
Example
1. B
2. C
3. A
4. H
More information on the voting procedure will be posted on that thread. So without further ado, here is the image of the week

Once more, DO NOT post your image in this thread, email it to the account listed above. Anybody who posts their image in this thread will have their image disallowed from the contest.
Good luck to all entrants. Contest ends on Monday, March 12, 2007. All entries must be in by midnight (Pacific Time), Monday, March 12, 2007. Voting will begin one day later.
Any questions? Feel free to PM me.

Any resolution greater than 640x480 would be great. Reason is when I post the final image, I make the final image sizes all around 640x480. Last contest, I received an image in a smaller resolution, which then had to be stretched up to 640x480. The end result is pixelation of the original image.
So from now on, as long as the image is at least 640x480, its good to go
It doesn't have to be 1600x1200.

Just a reminder to all, you don't have to get them in right away. The deadline isn't until Monday the 12th. So take all the time you need to polish, tweak, and get the best out of your chop. But it your satisfied with it, go ahead and submit it.
I just don't want people rushing their work thinking their going to miss a deadline thats 6 days away

i tend to get busy later in the week.. had to get it done quick
if you save the image in photoshop as a jpeg quality level 10 it will look nearly identical to the save quality of 12 but it will start using more compression so a 1600x1200 goes from a 1.8 meg file to something like 600~800k. much more managable even for 56k connections ... though still dangerous for slower connections
One more day! I've received a total of seven entries this week so far, which is amazing! Glad to see a good turnout.
So anyone else out there that might not have submitted there's yet, you got one more day to finish and enter. Tomorrow at midnight is the deadline, voting starts on Monday

Bragging rights...lol
I'm working on getting the voting thread set up, however, I'm still waiting for one contestant to re-email me their image, for it was corrupted when I got it.
But if I don't receive it within the next few hours, I'll have to start the voting without it.

I've already explained why I haven't posted this, but I'm waiting no longer, I'm going to post the voting thread now.
Jesus, don't be so impatient. I'm not getting paid to do this, I do it as a courtesy and a service to the board. So don't jump down my back when I try to make it a fair contest for all...kapish?
