Which drag radial tire/rim setup

Alright guys im stuck in a pickle.. I want good tires for the track and I am considering the BFG G Force dr's and the nitto 555r's, I dont know if i should mount them on seperate rims (cheap ones) for weight purposes or keep them on the 18's.. I dont know how much the stock 18's weigh.. but if u do think i should mount them on smaller rims what size? I would like to run 15's but i think u will have to grind the caliper.. I would really like to get slicks but I will have to run in a different class at the strip, I wanna stay in the street class

Not sure how much the stock rims weigh, but they are heavy. The smaller the rim, the more sidewall, the better the tire in drag racing. You can fit down to a 16" rim with no problems, I did hear of someone fitting 15s with grinding the calipers down. But yeah, 15s would be the way if you can get them to fit, but I am sure 16s with slicks will do the trick.

go to tirerack, get the sport editions wheels in 16inch, search staurn l300, if you break your axles driving hard on the street that wont be covered either, they would call that abuse, and also see you 2.8 pulley, and plus once you go downthe track say bye ti your warranty also.

I mean the axles bye for sure. The trannyes are not so breakables if you dont get wheel hop. Those who want to go to the track, Should have, tranny mounts, Engine mounts, Control arm brushings, Axles, Traction bars, then you should not have to worry about breaking anything. since youll get no wheel hop.

That would indeed be a great idea however make sure you have axles and not all of the other mods ^. If you have traction bars, tranny mounts, and engine mounts this is going to put even more straint on the axles. Spinning = good for stock axles because its less wear and tear. However like Ljavy said, get axles. IMO the stock clutch could handle up to 300 whp and do fine if you learn how to use it correctly.

Yes and no on the stock clutch, i had a oem one put it becuase my spec 2+ blew, this stock one has about 5k on it, and already slipping from a dig, but my friends has over 50k on it, and doesnt really slip and is holding up, and on both clutches i did proper break-in.

Out here at the street legal drag nights you are allowed to run a full out slick in the sport compact division. I don't know if it would be the same where you are. I even asked the track if I am able to run a full slick in the sport compact if I have a rwd conversion. He said yes. I think some sport compact guys might be a tad upset when I show up in some big ass slicks
