Million Mile Warranty
Eibach Sportline Kit Lowering Springs are the extreme performance spring set created for the extreme enthusiast the one who craves a racecar attitude for maximum street performance with the lowest possible drop, but with the exceptional ride quality you expect from Eibach.

Engineered with the same care as our Pro Kit lowering springs, Eibach Sportline lowering springs achieve legendary handling by aggressively lowering your car's center of gravity, using our precision engineered progressive spring rates.

By radically lowering your car's center of gravity, our Sportline lowering springs dramatically reduce squat during acceleration, body roll in corners and nose dive under braking. By using our proprietary, progressive spring design, our Sportline lowering springs provide the ultimate balance between high performance, extreme lowering and comfortable ride quality. When combined with today's wild 18", 19" or 20" wheels and tires, the result is a car that handles just as white hot as it looks.

jasonaudio
03-14-2007, 06:11 PM
The purpose of a camber kit is to correct the angle of the wheel...

"When the tops of the wheels are closer than the bottom, i.e. the wheels are "leaning" inwards from the top, this is negative camber. If they are leaning out, it is positive."

Sometimes depending how much lower than stock you end up going, a camber kit is needed to help prevent uneven tire wear.

Do we need a camber kit for the SS/SC and sport springs?

I have seen these installed on multiple SS/SC's locally, and none of them needed it. I have also heard of many on the net that did not need it as well.
On a Cobalt LS/LT, I cannot confirm/deny weather it's required.

i am extremly interested... what will the total cost be to canada at the $197 price? and how many people have paid already?

MaJ
03-15-2007, 08:58 PM
The total cost to Canada is hard to say... The exchange rate is changing constantly, as well as there will be duty and brokerage after crossing the border. A friend of mine just ordered some, they were shipped via UPS, and the fees were roughly $80.00 CAD

If you were to buy today, they would cost you roughly... (this is based on exchange rate of 1 USD = 1.17625 CAD)

Springs - $232.86 CAD ($197.99 USD)
Shipping - $51.75 CAD ($44.00 USD)
Fees - ~$80.00 CAD
Total - ~$364.61 CAD

The final to your door price could be roughly $360 bucks. Really depends on your duty/brokerage fees.

DARIN616
03-15-2007, 09:06 PM
man...all those fees just kill ya hey

jasonaudio
03-16-2007, 01:36 AM
Hot Rod Cop - I don't stock that item here, so it was already ordered at the warehouse. I'll see if I can get it stopped/cancelled. If I can, then I have no problem refunding that portion of the order. Your springs will be shipping tomorrow.

All orders are being placed at the ORIGINAL $206.99 price. AFTER THE GP IS OVER, WE WILL GO THROUGH ALL ORDERS AND REFUND ACCORDING TO THE #S ACTUALLY ORDERED.

These springs ship via USPS Air Mail. UPS is by far the worst when it comes to border fees/duties/brokerage. The USPS is the best as far as I've heard from customers; typically 1/2 or less than what UPS seems to charge. (info from past customer responses)

More PMs sent.

I have experienced USPS being cheaper as well.. The downside is every time I've ever had anything shipped here via USPS it got stopped at the border for a week or two...

One time I had them ship a collector ZIPPO I bought for my dad, which was held for over 1 month. It really pissed me off, because this lighter had never been opened since it was manufactured, still had the original collect seal, and was never suposed to be opened.. and the border inspection stripped it appart. Not to say this will always happen, or that it couldn't happen with any other shipper, cause it could happen with any.. I guess I just have dumb luck.

I've read in the suspension basics 101 thread on here that SS/SC cars will need new struts if running the sportline shocks....do we have accurate data on this?

jasonaudio
03-21-2007, 04:31 PM
It's typically recommended when going with lowering springs, although I can't say for sure since the drop on the SS's isn't too drastic.

Hopefully someone else can chime in with good info.

MaJ
03-21-2007, 06:39 PM
In short... You should. But You don't have to.

I don't have acurate statics or anything like that.. but as Jason said it is generally recomended to get upgraded struts when going with any lowering spring, as a typical strut is designed for specific suspension travel. When you lower your car, you then decrease the distance the suspension will travel in regular use. This can cause the strut to do things it wasn't designed to do.

Obviously, the less of a change on the travel, the less chance you have of seeing any negative effects. (or.. the longer it will take for you to see negative effects). I know several people who have had their cars on Sportlines for over a year with no issues at all. Obviously this doesn't mean you won't see a benifate by upgrading, but it is not absolutely required. It is possible that over time, the struts may give out. And it is also no question that by lowering the car, you are shortening the lifespan of the strut. By how much is unknown.

Would the Koni's be an upgrade on an SS/SC? They seem to be since they are adjustable.
Do they match up with the sportline springs? I.E the load matches up and won't ruin these as well or do I need to figure out what height I need? Last stupid question can I just put on the Koni's and get the 1" drop front and rear that I would be getting out of the springs?

Sorry.. Totally missed this question
The Koni's I would say are probably a good choice. I have not really looked into them for the Cobalt, i'm going to test out the life of the stock struts with the Sportlines for a while.

Koni yellows are definately a good strut though. I've had experience with them in other cars, but one thing that I noticed is that they really do have a rough ride. They are a performance strut, so they are designed to keep the car solid on the ground. Definately not a good choice in a place like where i live (pot holes everywhere). If you live it a place with well kept roads, I would say go to town with performance struts.

As for the Koni's seeing wear from the Sportlines. I highly doubt it. As said before, they are a performance strut, and are designed to go with lowered vehicles (as per the adjustability they have).

well I think it is night and day diffrence. The SS has a pretty good strut but you limit the movement of the strut when the spings are very tight. Like i said I think that the pro's outweigh the cons. I love the way it looks and performs. It is well worth the money.
-I would be interested in the struts if it made the ride better and kept the performance that the sportslines have gave me. and yes you need an alignment.

When you measure the front ones for cutting, make sure you measure from the top of the plastic little boot on the shock. The ride is amazing with them in.

what is the 'spring rate'? thx

jasonaudio
05-09-2007, 05:50 PM
mugencivicsi - Yes, there are still a few left at the $197.99 price. You've got a PM. The springs ship via USPS and are marked the purchase value. These cannot be marked lower due to potential fines, etc. Sorry.

I do not know the spring rates. I looked before and couldn't find them in any of the literature or info. Sorry. Maybe someone else will know.

MaJ
05-09-2007, 06:17 PM
Eibachs are a variable rate spring.. not sure how they are actually rated though....

Also.. have you started sending out the refunds?

NOTICE TO ALL

Eibach is on backorder for these springs until around June 1st. We're creating a backorder list for this GP and all orders will be shipped when they are available again.

Once these come off backorder from Eibach, we'll be ending the GP. So if you want to get the springs at the $197.99 price, order soon to get on the list.

Yeah, I was gonna ask, do you need a spring compressor to re-install? I know sometimes short springs will fit anyway without a spring compressor.

Just go to your local autoparts store. I got mine from autozone. I had to pay a deposit of $40 but got it back when I returned them. The back ones don't really need to be compressed but the front ones do. Go to the how to section and it will show you how to do it.

Try your local napa. I went over to mine and they said i could rent a set of compressors for $5.

Yeah, I was gonna ask, do you need a spring compressor to re-install? I know sometimes short springs will fit anyway without a spring compressor.

You need compressors for the fronts only. The back ones are a breeze but the fronts can be a bitch. I was luck in that my mechanic helped me and he has a top knotch fansy compressor. The best part is that it only cost me a case of beer for his help. :twothumbs

To anyone who may be interested... We do have some Sportlines available again, while we wait for Eibach to get them back in stock.

I have a shot at purchasing a small batch of them (4-6 sets)... if there is interest. The catch is I cannot do them as cheap as the GP pricing was.

Price would be $222 + ship.

If anyone is interested, let me know. Post here or PM or call.

lol wow guys.... I think a lot of people would buy them if they were 200 flat. The place he got the springs from had the price 30 dollars more, so whats he going to do lose money on this? Get real. Eibach isnt telling vendors when the springs are coming except for mid to late July.

These Springs are still the cheapest right now on the market. TTR is at 240+25, and CA is at 250+40 shipping. So stop complaining this is still a good deal
