something interesting?

so i was just talking to my service manager about my car and warranty with mods. I was looking at going stage 4 intense. well i found out if i upgrade the injectors or the PCM (i can tune it i just cant switch out the pcm) that it will void the warranty? I could care less about the new pcm but im trying to figure out why the warranty would be voided for the injectors?

i was looking at the simmons 60lb injectors

gm will only warranty gm products.. anything aftermarket will not be covered and can void the warranty

everyone needs to learn about what a warranty really is and what, by law, can and cannot be voided. this should be a requirement before you mod your car. new injectors in and of themselves CANNOT void your whole warranty, i don't care what anybody tells you.

true to a point, but preaty much once you goto 60lb/hr injectors your screwed. You blow your engine its an a/f battle or over power battle, blow your tranny, you were making more power then the tranny could handle, break an axle you were putting down more then the axles could handle. You change the pcm or programming, you potentially tamper with systems that could be important to the car.
If a dealer trys to tell you CAI's and exhaust systems will void you warrenty tell them where to go, but once you go higher in mods be careful what you tell them.

the battle im having is wiether or not to go gm stage 2 or go intense stage 4........i want the more power but if im going to void the warranty just by changing the injectors how am i not goign to void the warranty doing the gm stage kit myself?

also they didnt care if i changed out my pullies
they were more concerned about the injectors.

anyone know who makes the 42.5lb injectors?

they can and wil void your warranty for what ever they feel like ... it's a losing battle.. mine was voided for a front mount H/E and an exhaust... but I was planning on that anyway knowing the dealerships around here.
it all depends on if your service manager is cool, and if you GM area REP isn't a total dick. it's also good if there aren't a lot of cobalts by you so they don't know what to look for.

I know that someone installed Corvette Z06 injectors in their 05 cobalt ss/sc. I don't know what the specs are though.

Did you contact GM customer service, because that is BS. But then again I think you have a bit more done now anyways

I personally feel that if your going to heavily mod your car without gm parts, you should not expect to keep your warrenty. With the mods I have, if GM decided not to warenty something I can't say I would really complain. Some dealers are nice and want to keep your business (like mine) and if you find one keep it.

When I installed GM stage 2 by myself and had the dealer install the flash there was no problem with warrenty. If your that concerned about warrenty go with stage 2. If your not so concerned with warrenty go with intense stage 4 or a custome tune with 60's and a 2.6

yeah im sick of people not knowing about what there talking about and posting worthless information. The only way they can void your warranty is if they prove the aftermarket part you put on there caused the failure

or do both get gm stage 2 then get hp tuners , save your stage 2 tune , put a tune for 60 lbers and **** on there keep all your stage 2 equipment and when you blow your motor put your stage 2 tune back stage 2 hub stage 2 belt and 3 in pulley and boom WARRANTY

absolutely correct!!!!
to the original poster: talk to someone who REALLY knows what they are talking about. this requires you to make a phone call to GM directly, NOT CHEVY or any of their dealerships.

i just got done taking my car into the dealer to get a Crankshaft Position Variation Learn. to get this done, i had to tell them why. the reason is, i put a completely different computer in my car and upgraded my injectors to 60lb/hr so the car couldnt pick out the crankshaft position.
GUESS WHAT???? i still have my warranty...

dude... jesus... I fought them for a few months with a lawyer and everything... got my money back for the extended warranty at least.... call up any ss/sc owner from L.I. and ask em about warranty... even stock they won't warranty stuff half the time

ok talked to GM, talked to head quarters, talked to rep, talked to local news channel... know where that got me... absolutely nowhere... (and got my car redflagged too)
so until you have experience with it.,.. please don't post wrong info to these people.

In the end, warranties are for people that don't mod. Because like it was stated above, they will find a way to blame your mod on the problem that you are trying to have your warranty cover.

Example: GM is now trying to say the programming problem I am having, is due to the ingalls ETD. I told them outright that that makes no sense(especially because my problem started before i put the dampener on). But it shows that they will attempt to get out of warranty work by blaming it on the mods. But the burden of proof is on them.

AND, even some GM parts will void your warranty. I heard something about the GM header, and a GM stage 3, that are all GM parts, but will still void your warranty.

I think that Stage 2+ a couple other small mods is the best you can do while keeping your warranty. But even if you go for the non-GM parts, you will only void the part of your warranty that will fix those specific parts.

I'm with you on keeping your warranty. Even though it has proved useless at this point(because of my current problems), it is still nice to know that most possible problems are still GM's problem, and not mine...

All a dealer has to do is claim abuse and find some little thing wrong that shows you were doing more than "normal" street driving and you are screwed, whether or not you are using GM parts.

Like it or not these cars may be built with the ability to race but you can't expect a dealer to warranty a race car if that is what you choose to do with your car....

only because you don't know the law and you're rights... end of story...

yes, certain things in the engine are going to **** you up, but exhaust NEVER, can't, shouldn't, and won't void your warranty.... you were only told it was, and didn't know how to defend yourself when told this.

i dont think you are wrong about YOUR situation, the people that i hear the most warranty problems from are in Arizona. i think its just the state.
i do know what im talking about when i say this stuff(not offended by your statement at all), i have delt with dealerships and GM and gotten lots of useful info from them. everytime i call GM they help me out. i think arizona is just redflagged!! haha!

the dealer will tell you all kinds of things, same with your lawyer. if you hire a lawyer then he needs to make sure he does his homework or he cant do anything for you. a simple thing such as a H/E will never void your warranty unless its the cause of damage. you got screwed majorly.

i take back some of that because of the lawyer... but then he sucked too, and you should get your money back from him.
