Finally bit the bullet and ordered wheels & Tires today

Well,

The OEM wheels are now being relegated to Autocross use while I'm in stock class, so I am ordering today a set of Enkei EVO-5 wheels

18 x 7.5 with the 35mm offset. Hyper Black
Coming with it is a set of Kuhmo ECSTA-SPTs ( 225/45-18 )
All told, with Mounting, balancing and tax... $1275 +/- ( depending on whether I get a couple more bucks taken off with more wheels getting ordered )

Know it's not the best price out there compared to some online places, but this is a local place ( I prefer to shop local to support the community ), and they can have them here the day after I order them.

5 x 100/114.3

Oh Yeah Rick... that's the hyper black. They come in that, and Bronze ( gold, basically ). Had the Bronze been dark like on 5Ziegen wheels, I might have done that, but the HB is f'n cool.

I think Dan P. might go with these as well. There's a guy local that can get them quick if people want them.

Thanks.

Yeah, I hear that. I'm slow this early... not awake yet...

Once I get them on ( next week or so ), I will post pics, and I'm sure you'll see them on the car soon enough. If you want to get them quick and local, let me know... if you want the best price possible, then online is the way to go.

I got the tires CHEAPER than the OEM size ECSTA's I had on the car this past summer...

215/45-18 ( paid $132 a piece )
225/45 ( paying 108 a piece )

According to Edgeracing.com they are roughly 20lbs each. Not LIGHT, but alot lighter ( 4lbs each ) than the stockers, and are wider...

Wow... Rick buddy.,... you gotta get off nightturn.....LOL

I got them in the sotck's 5-110 pattern. Not many places have it, but Enkei is actually startign to make more of their wheels in our pattern. They come in both 35 and 45mm offsets as well, but I wanted to play it safe and make sure they'd fit, so went with the 35mm.

Yeah, they only list 1 wheel on there with it, that SC05 wheel and it's in a 50+ mm offset. I don't know what that is going to fit....

You have to really look around for them in our pattern.

Dan P. sent me a few links for them. I think a place called streetdreams was the one he had.

Wheel & tire combo was like $1092, but not the tires I wanted. You COULD get those tires, and they were 125 each. PLUS they don't charge shipping

Check out the PGH thread ( Page 146 ) and there's a post by Dan P. on it.

Congrats Brian, I might go with those in 17s if they've got em in my bolt pattern when I finally get up the money to buy another set of racing wheels/tires. R-comps suck in the wet, need backups :-)

I have run Bald Toyo RA-1's in the rain and they have allways been better then street tires.

Oh and nice rims.

Might have a lot to do with track surface as well, every place around here R-comps suck in rain. I'm looking for Azenis to run as "wet" race tires.

And yeah, the more I look at those rims the more I want them down the road. If only they were lighter.

There are a few places that carry them. Streetdreams has them both in 17 & 18 Dia, and in 35 & 45mm offsets.

I got them locally thru a speedshop 1 mile from my house.

Alicia, they're not the lightest out there, but for the $$ I'm happy. They're not my racing rims, so it's not as big a deal.

Now, down the road, then I'm going to have to spend some $$ and get some good light wheels, even if it means custom ordering.

I'm debating getting 17x7 or 18x7.5. I'm also unsure of offsets since I am lowered.

wait what?? How did you get those wheels to fit? I originally was torn between 18" Axis Reverbs and the Enkei EVO5's. But after researching, I found that they were only available in 5x100 or 5x112/5x114. No 5x110 available, even checked Enkei's site. I ended up getting Enkei WDM's in gunmetal, b/c I love Enkei wheels and the WDMs are new for '07, so I thought why not. I hope you didn't order wheels that didnt fit man. I used the wheel filter on wheelsnext, and it said that the Enkei EVO5's wouldn't fit our 5-lug Cobalts.

Haha... sweet. I do like these rims and probably will end up getting them in a month. They offer them in 5x110... but not many places carry them. StreetDreams.com has them in 5x110: here. That's an 18" rim. They also have them in 5x110 in a 17": here.

Can't wait to see them in person Brian!
