HP Tuners and the factory warranty?
HP Tuners and the factory warranty?
I did a search and couldn't find anything about this. My question is if you take your car in for warranty work, can the techs find out that you have been messing with the computer tuning even if it is turned back to the stock tune? I know nothing about hp tuners and that has been keeping me from getting it. Any info would be great, thanks.
The thing about that is, if you're using HP tuners chances are you've REALLY modded your car. I have seen very few people that have used HP tuners with a relatively stock car. Usually it's smaller pulley, bigger injectors, yadda yadda. In which case you really need to take ALL of that off if you want the car to look completely stock.
Question hasnt really been aswered. I am curoius to. I heard that the usual tech want know, but it can be found? Lets get more on this, what happends if a guy just wants a good tune to go with his 2.9. Something breaks, he doesnt get the old GM S2 flash back on.. CAN they find it? And would they really give a F#$% if they find it?

JPB cam, I mean they wont know its even on there unless you blow the motor. Then When they find that they will more than likely blame it on the cam. Other than blowing your motor, there is no reason they should be able to know you got a cam on there. Then we got the linguring HPtune question.
Look, I'll say this one more time. The techs won't know unless you tell them. I've tuned 4 people who have no other mods to their cars. I've leaned the fuel out and given them more hp/tq. One guy just wanted me to do that and I did. I removed torque management from one car and another I changed the amount of boost in first. The last guy I did all that then changed his fan settings. Matter of fact, he went in for light problems and the flashed his computer and I scanned it later, and nothing I'd done was affected.
It can be done without any warranty issues.
Now, adding cams will definately bring other things into question. Say you break the timing chain or bend a valve...its not going to be covered by too many dealers. Unless, the dealer did the install. They might cover it or they can wash their hands and refuse. Now, say you change the boost settings in first, what will that do other than reduce wear on your drive train and axels.
If you are unsure, it isn't for you....plain and simple.

Well I guess I will be getting hp tuners pretty soon then. My next Question then is, can you only get HP Tuners from HP Tuners or is there somewhere cheaper you can get it from?
If you decide to get it, invest in these...

BIG QUESTION : Last week i almost blew my engine (bounced off the gate and 100 in 2nd) i know operater error i'll prolly get flamed still, but i heard that u could erase certain parts of the memory from ur ecu. and since i don't think that GM will cover my **** up even if i play the safty reliability BS yadda yadda. My question is when my tune shop gets the HP tuner software and if he can erase that part off the ecu where i screwed up could GM still be able to tell that i screwed up or be able to tell that the computer has been messed with. Also i got my balt used and i found out that the previous owner had put on the 2.79' pulley ever since i messed up the car i've been pushing 17.5 lbs. Ionly pushed 15 before but it had the stg2 tune on it so it would blow the supercharger harder but the tune would only allow 15lbs. And 1 more thing my supercharger is making some more noises ;probably the 2.79. Keep in mind this is the 2nd time i've had to go back to GM b/c of the s/c in the last 2 months.

Actually, they can see the redline, the other stuff won't be noticed unless they have a stock car right next to it. Even if they have a stock car, you can deny it.
