Color works, very simple. But it's an interior trim piece, so the paint finish needs to be perfect. You can tell from the picture that the spray finish is from a can. You need to sand between coats.

I read a reply above of the "Once you go black, you never go back" which reminded me of a shirt I used to have saying "Once you go white, you never go back...aaiight!"....which made me think, if you did it right, a nice glossy white Interior trim would look hawt.

Ive got dark blue on mine, and the interior trim piece you painted, mine came out crappy looking, but the other 3 pieces look immaculant.

I spent awhile sanding the original piece down smoothing it out. But the damn plastic attracted dust particles which kept sticking to the paint. I painted it 3 times and then gave up and threw it in and took pics. I just wanted to see how it looked. I will go back and throw some paint thinner on it and take it down and repaint it.

Halfcent- Do u suggest wet sanding between the coats or what? I also didnt put a clear coat finish on it since it was just a "test". What do u guys suggest?

Thanks guys.

You need a paint booth to keep it clean. You need to sand after primer. If you are doing two color coats, then you sand between coats. If you are clear coating, you have to apply clear to the top color coat within one hour to achieve a good bond.

I wouldn't sand it at all just clean it really good and use adhesion promotor.

Well I decided to screw around with the polishing compound and wax. I pretty much took out all the imperfections but then i went a little too far and took some of the paint off. O well didnt have a clear coat on it or anything. Good thing I have all day off tomorrow so I can go thru and redo it all. Any suggestions for a "home made" paint booth?

Update: I went back threw and repainted and sanded and clear coated, looked real good. Let it dry out in the sun for a couple hours, its like 60 degrees outside. Picked it up and everything brought it over to my car, opened the glove box, lined the holes up, pushed it in place. Took my hands away and there! was a fingerprint from where I pressed to get it to snap in place. I was so pissed off after spending so much time getting it to look right. I ripped it out of there and chucked it out into the street. After a couple hours, i went back out and got it, luckily noone ran it over. Took my power sander to it, sanded it back down and started all over. Now im doing silver.
