Engine Calibration available for 2.4L, for competitive driving.

This is straight from GM Service Information, might be helpful for some of you if you havent heard/seen this before.

Subject: Info - Availability of Engine Calibration for Use in High Ambient Temperature and High Load Conditions for Competitive Driving #06-06-04-051 - (09/29/2006)

Models: 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
2006 Pontiac Solstice (RPO Z0K Only)
with 2.4L Engine (VIN B -- RPO LE5) and 5 Speed Manual Transmission (RPO M86 or MA5)

This is to advise owners who intend to use their 2.4L LE5 engine-equipped vehicle in competitive driving environments under high ambient temperature conditions and/or high loads for extended periods of time of the availability of an engine calibration that will allow the engine to operate at full power under these conditions. This calibration in no way alters the power output of the engine under normal operating conditions. When using this calibration, full synthetic oil (Mobil 1 5W30 or the equivalent) is required.

These calibrations are to be used in Pontiac Solstice and Chevrolet Cobalt SS specific model vehicles only. These calibrations do not apply to all LE5 engines.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

This would be interesting. Since I work at the dealer I'll have to check on this. Maybe I can get Steve to look at this n see what they do to the motor.

quite possible, makes sense since it says for high ambient temp. conditions.

Usually SI gives us more info about the need for the reflash and what it does.
