Got an interesting e-mail reply today...
after months of being tired of being led around...i talked to some people in the know and got ahold of a specific name...
Questions i asked:
well i asked a could that i had that were specific questions like, when would the shoppin tools be available, why cant the SS be offered in the silver, and what were the specifics on the transmission (cause ive seen a couple of different lead ons about this one. for instance, the the brochure they sent me, its listed as a 4.05 final gear and ive seen 3. something somewhere else.) then i asked the mother of all questions and got just the response i was looking for. the VQ guy in the other thread (Production starts today...) was right. whoever some of yall have been talking to have been grouping all SS's with the non supercharged ones...anyways, heres the response...
"Dear Mr. Dove,
Thank you for contacting Chevrolet and for your interest in the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt SS! The online shopping tools should be availble closer to the time the Cobalt will hit the dealerships. 2005 Cobalt start of production dates at the Lordstown, Ohio, assembly center are currently scheduled as follows:
October 2004 -- Sedan start of retail production
November 2004 -- Coupe and SS Supercharged start of retail production
February 2005 -- SS Coupe and Sedan start of retail production
At this time there are not any detailed specs released for the Cobalt as of yet. The decision to no tadd silver as a color for the Cobalt SS was an engineering and design decision.
We hope that this information answers your question. If you need additional information or have further questions, please let us know via email or by calling Chevrolet at 1-800-950-2438, between 8:00 AM-11:00 PM Eastern Time, seven days a week. Again, thank you for contacting Chevrolet!
