Don't know what you have in your area, but I've found that the 91 from our local Citgo works the best. In the first week I had my car before it was broken in, I was already getting the estimated gas mileage on the highway.

i usually go to the cheapest place for my ls. but if i had an ss/sc i would go to a local Crossroads, b/c the guy who owns them supplies fuel for Nascar cup series. and him and his father invented CAM 2

If you have access to a sunoco they have some of the best pump gas you can buy. I am no were near a sunoco so I just get the best I can get and that is Shell 92 here in Washington State.

I WAS using Shell 93 at first now I usually just use Shell 87...but now that it's warming up again I'll probably start stepping back up(87 to 89 to 93)

Shell V Power for the win! Somewhere on this thread is a study showing top tier gas like Shell V power is better for your car.

I would recommend going to a station that is in a busy area cause you know that they sell a lot of premium and that way you don't get any stail gas. This winter I went to Citgo and it wouldn't pump so I went inside and asked them why it wouldn't pump. "Oh were sorry the pump is frozen." Never going there again.

You shouldn't use 93! The 2.2 is made for regular.

93 WILL NOT HURT THE 2.2. You will see better gas millage, better "performance", and cleaner valves. There is know down side to it. When I ran 93 in my old 2.2 eco in the long run I saved more money at the pump. It was even a plus in a 3 cyl metro that I had when gas prices where through the roof.

Actually if a car is not designed to run on premium gas then you shouldn't use it.
Its not that you are hurting the car, but you are wasting money. Octane has to do with how high a tempurature the gas burns at, by useing gas that the car is not intended to use you are promoting detonation and may be burning out spark plugs.
This has been argued many times before and probably many times more so put what you want in your car but there is no addvantage for a 2.2 to use 93 or higher.

Like stated above I did see an advantage. Todays computers in these cars will take advantage of up to at least 93 otc, 100 otc probably not. I do under stand how the different octanes burn. The cars are not made to run on 87 the are mad to run 87 at a minimum.
