Is this happening to your Black Cobalt
Is this happening to your Black Cobalt
I have a black cobalt SS S/C and i notice the Body scratches REAL easy you can run your finger across the paint and it scratches anybody having this problem i just got the car a week ago im about to complain. It already has a couple minor scratches on the hood some pretty big you can only notice them at certain angles.
i have swirls on mine from the idiots at the dealership who wipe them down for the showroom. My car still has yet to be handwashed. its only been through the touchless automatic ones... meaning no cloth has ever touched it while the car has been in my possession, and yet it still has swirls on it.
IF you have never owned a black car before, this is why you probably won't ever again. I manage a paint and body shop. There is nothing wrong with the paint on your car. Unfortunately with black, every little flaw is magnified with that color. Every little ding, scartch, scuff, and microscopic peices of dust show up very easily. Black is the highest maintenence color to have. It is very difficult to keep clean and looking great. That is just the pitfall of black. Taking it to the dealer and complaining is not going to do you any good. There are just certain colors that have their faults. White is the easiest to maintain. It hides a lot of flaws because it is so highly reflective, but it turns yellow over time. Red is my personal favorite, but over time it can get a pinkish tint to it. No car is perfect and they all have there flaws. You just happened to buy the worst color in the world to maintain.
ditto. I wanted white also. Black would have been my second choice, as black is super sexy when its clean, but after owning a black cavalier, i said to hell with that again.

where in jersey are u?
i'll teach u how to buff out the scratches if u want.
gm really cheaped out on the paint. My white car is getting light scratches. a clay bar and waz will clean a lot of it up. I'm even getting rock chips on the bumper, normally the bumpers don't chip because the plastic will absorb the impact and not chip the paint, but i've got 2 scars already. i have a handfull of rock chips on the hood and A pillar. I'm not impressed with the paint at all.
but thats the joy of a black car, they all do it. I've got a friend with a 87 grand national that had a very expensive paint job, all black but it was like the most perfect mirror finish i've ever seen. its scratched looking now, not from a lack of care but because its black.

be back soon
note ive done detailing on many a 100,000 dollar black sl 55. and the only way to get out deep scratch's in a black car is color sanding, a good wash, wax and polish. all dont by HAND. touchlees car wash's will RUIN your paint cause of the water pressure.

and my car is a year old. it's not the paint... it's you, not knowing how to take care of it... or not taking the time to do it right.
p.s. i know the body plugs in my decklid are cheesy, but the wing had to go... and i'm still gettin the cash together for the Carbon Fiber decklid
quoted by me.

I would post pics but we just got another heavey downfall of wet snow so it would be useless. (At least she's now protected by the elements)
Cheers

Go back to the dealrship and tell wht scrathces you found. I found a couple after having mine few days and they gave me we owe voucher and a number to their paint tech and he was able to buff them out, same with the dents in the hood.
I will agree that black is one of the hardest to take care of...that's why I always stray people away from a black car unless they've owned one before and know what it's all about.
I do a complete 3 stage on mine about 3 times a year. I replace mother's stage two with meguire's swirl remover 2.0 and viola:
