Maxima 3.5L 6-speed vs. Cobalt SS S/C
Ok this guy at work keeps talking madd sh*t on how his car will mop the floor with me and how he is soo much faster. What do you guys think? its a 4 door sedan with a 350z engine in it (i think the 350z's are the 3.5L). any opinions? I usually just go race people, but, i guess you could say he's gettin in my head a lil
you will beat him. they are slow and heavy. I think they run like 15.0, the Altima SE-R w/ the same engine runs 14.5 but is lighter. So his smack talk isnt warranted, he will lose, and then he will cry :'( If hes an auto its even worse.
EDIT: yea IM refering to thew newer ones, if its 2004 or less, you will eat him alive.

Well if the OP's car is stock, then the MAYBE .5 difference in 1/4 time isn't really anything on the street. Just a heads up
i raced a3.5 maxima 5spd and kept up with him really well, the guy pulled over and gave me respect for it, he thought i was driving a gtp. we pulled from a stop and by around 120 he had 2 cars on me
btw im in a 2,4

Well this is my first post, I own a 2002 Maxima Auto with I/H/E and I ran a 14.3 on my last visit at the dragstrip. My 60ft its crappy but I'm still trying to get better to get a better time.
Anyways, a 2002-2003 Maxima 6spd normally can do around mids 14s stock, best run are around 14.1 - 14.3. So if both are manuals and good driver so it would be a close race, unless your manual and his auto or the other way around then the manual will win.
Don't get confuse with a 2000-2001 which is a 5th Gen 3.0L and the 2002-2003 5.5 Gen which are the 3.5L.
The 5th Gen has the thin black grill up front and no HIDs, the 5.5 Gen has a thick chrome grill and has HIDs.
My cousin has a Cobalt 2.2 LT and I'm usually reading the forums to help him out to fix his up. He is not very car savvy.

14.3 is a little generous on the new Maxies... I would C&D had them listed @ 15.0, and the SE-R altima w/ the same engine and more suspension mods @ 14.5. I suppose its possible, but its not gonna be common.
The cobalt SS sucks from a dig, so a roll race would probably have the SS in a better spotlight to win.

Ive run a 14.3 when car was stock ( 02 auto mustang gt)....and i beat my friends altima se-r...his best time was a 14.9 I think....I also got whooped by a stage 2 SS (not whopped but only 1 1/2 cars) I think 14.3, 14.2 for a maxima is pushing it a little....you shouldnt have much of a problem with him...so go race him

The 14.1 on the 5.5Gen is not common, but it was done. I know that not everyone are going to be running that all that all day lol.
Most of my races are on the dragstrip, but sometimes the ricer hondas that tried to pick on me on the HWY I just leave them behind and cant catch up with me lol.
Since his opponent is a 2004-2005 6spd stock, he should have no problem winning. If you want to secure the win take your spare and jack out for the race make yourself lighter. Just don't get a flat. Those 6th Gen are heavy, not sure on the exact weight but a more the 5.5Gen.

So the guy came in today and was talking madd crap, so Thursday afternoon we are going to go settle it, once and for all. After we decided on thursday, he started acting a little nervous
I have been researching these maximas, and it seems to me like it will be a drivers race.
depending on what mods he has he very well might take ya. the maximas are heavy but they definately arent slow. If he has headers (namely hotshot), an exhaust, and a cai, then watch out its gonna be fast. Examine his intake plenum, there are some sneaky mods you can do that will gain a lot of power ex. pathfinder and 350z track model plenums will make that car scoot along pretty well. I had a nissan before my cobalt and am pretty experienced in that community.
What year is it? If its a 03 6M you'll be a little shocked at how close the race will be. I drove my friends 03 6-speed with I/H/E and some suspension mods to a 13.46 @ 113 w/ a shitty 2.3 60'.
P.s. don't forget the vid!!!!
