Need help on deciding HID kit, and worth it or not?

Im sick of our boring headlights, and the shitty aftermarket bulbs. Id rather put my money towards something that will last longer and look better. Im considering going the HID route, I just need a little more info and would like some input on your personal experiences.

Has anyone come across any problems with an HID kit?
Which kit did you buy?
Which kit works well with the Cobalt?
Does the HID kit draw an excessive amount of current?
Is it worth the money?
Would it be better to save some money and buy PIAA 9007 bulbs, or am I better off with HID?

All input is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I like the Halo HID's. I prefer the bluer 8000K kit.

1) None whatsoever
2) I went with 8K in the stock housing so I wouldn't kill EVERYONE with the amount of light, plus they are pretty
3) I will get flamed for this, but any 9007 conversion kit works FINE
4) No more than stock, that's what the ballast is for
5) If you are headlight obsessive like I am
6) HID FTW

I also like 8K hid since it gives the nice blue light. I don't really like any of the after market headlights I would have to do something custom.

Lol this is a huge debate on this board. You use projectors because the stock headlights were technically not designed for use of HID bulbs and they cause glare to on coming traffic. I am not going to take sides on this. Some people say if aimed properly the glare can be limited. But you will get a better light pattern using projectors and less glare (when aimed properly) and that is a fact.

ok, but projectors would be a huge pain in the ass where just the HID conversion is plug and play, correct?

If you custom fab an HID kit, yes pain in the butt.

you can buy pre made HID projector headlights on ebay for our car though.

Its a decision you will have to make. Like people said they have projector lights on ebay. But just be aware they do not use the stock 9007 bulb. I personally wouldn't go with them and would have to do a custom setup which would be a lot of work. Yes there are plug and play hid kits. Make sure you get a harness for them so you aren't powering them using the stock harness.

You can always do what you want but you use on of the relays to avoid damage to your stock wiring harness. Its worth the extra 10 to 20 dollars to have it setup right. A lot of the kits include the relay harness at no charge.

honestly...people blind me all the time with their glaring HID's, so it's payback time soon...lol. Plus the only projectors for our cars are uglier than hell IMO.

thats your choice, but imo the lights also look much better out of a projector.

If your asking will the light output be better. Yes. But the projectors are the best way to go. I am eventually going to do it if I don't end up trading in the car before I get the chance.
