Exclamation Injen + 2.2 = LOUD = headache

ok my 2.2 cobalt i just got a injen intake installed. omg im only 18 and after i drove it i had a major headache. not to mention hearing it being loud as ever. anyone agree that if u want more "engine noise" try an intake. if not try a fujita intake or an airbox mod cause thats prolly the loudest in car noise ive heard yet from my cobalt.

ive heard louder but this is like a ringing sound in my head. i cant concentrate and drive that dang car as good now. i gotta get use to this thing man. especially since im going to the strip in 6 days. good intake like the power like the sound to an extent but man o man. was i ever surprised

thats a slideshow link of my car and the intake. enjoy

Wow, are you kiding man I love mine. Doesn't make much of any sound untill you get over 3k rpms. Try not going much over 3k rpms and you'll be fine. But if your complaining about an intake then don't do anymore engine mods cause it only gets worse from here lol.

2 things:

1) Either you're a wuss!
2) It's not installed right.

It should be louder, but not to the point where it's givin you a headache.

Next you should get a new passenger side engine mount and some tranny mount inserts

LOL @ ^^^

I love the sound of an intake on a N/A motor, especially a short-ram. I guess its just the ricer left in me from my Toyota. I don't know of any intake that could give you a headache from the noise. An SS/SC at 7200 rpms with a 2.8 is pretty borderline for me as far as noise, but it only bothers me when driving under a brige/tunnel with my windows down. I think you need to just keep it stock. Or try to alter your driving style so it isn't as loud all the time.

Wow, I've had my intake on for awhile now, and I havent complained about the sound. It doesnt even get loud unless you get on it.

Wow! If he thinks an intake on a 4 cyl is loud, he should try an old pontiac V8 with open headers.

I love my injen. I admit that their is a lot more engine noise than stock with it installed but its only when you go WOT into the higher rpms when u hear it. I cant imagine getting a headache from it lol

Sell it, buy the GMPP intake and the RKSport hood, seal the GMPP intake box to the scoop opening, and move the noise outside. When I cut my hood and installed the scoop over my GMPP, it sounded better inside (and a bit quieter) and MUCH better outside because the intake roar is now coming from the scoop.

cold air extension really helps for the sound. I know what you mean on an auto it is kinda loud, but really cold air i think is better all around imo

You shouldn't hear much of anything until you start climbing RPMs.
