Pistons and rods
So yeah, GM did a real good job when they designed the LSJ.
Here's the stock rods and pistons (notice the chunk of number 4 sitting there)

Look at the "high strength" pistons they used

The rods look halfway decent, but I'm getting billet rods and a billet crank just to be safe

Glad to see we're paying $23,000 for a car that was built right
Well, at least after I'm done with it, the motor should be good for 750 hp and 9000+ rpm

he wasn't running a setup that anyone else here hasn't run before.
however with a more efficient power adder there would be no need to run as much boost nor spin the crap out of the blower and it probably would've saved his motor.
those are just my thoughts.

GM even went one step further by releasing a 300(b)hp which states the LSJ pistons maxed at around the 300(b)hp limit.
Because there are so many people willing to ignore the articles and say "they believe/are sure/guess that the pistons will hold much more, people don't listen to GM and skip the expense of changing this weak link.
We were all warned and for those who ignored the warning, "modder pay up"
his mods are like:
60# injectors
2.6" pulley
Cobra heat exchanger
Dual Pass Intercooler
His own custom tune
Short shifter
Pace setter header
3" Downpipe/exhaust Catless
K&N Intake
oh and there's probably a ton more but that's most of it.
Anyway, he blew it racing an SRT4 back to back 40-140ish pulls. he beat it both times

The rods look like can take a beating. The crank is one of the strongest parts of the engine. Plus the billet steel crank is near 3 grand. Vic red is using his stock crank with some minor modifications.
And yet the pistons in the LSJ are the same as the ones in the SRT4.
I won't even get on your case about blaming GM building this weak motor for this car. Technically it was mainly Saab and not GM that designed the motor before the Cobalt was around. Plus S/C puts more strain on the motor than the Turbo, esp when your pushing this M62 like you are.
Anyway, how are your sleeves? I got to removing about half the oil pan bolts and started falling asleep so I stopped. I think if my sleeves are fine, I will just toss in the new pistons and rings, hope for the best.
