So am I the only one that got a flawed B&M shifter

The install went great up until I started moving thru the gears . 1-4 is fine , but on the shifter I got , the B&M reverse lockout collar TOTALLY interferes with the stock plastic shift plate retainer . I had to grind down the entire wall on the retainer and reshape the grove for reverese to get the shifter in 5th and reverese . Theres nothing I really could done wrong on the install to cause that kinda condition . It looks like the guide pegs for the lockout collar were possible set to low , causing the collar to sit to low and interfere with the stock retainer plate .

Has anyone else had this problem on their B&M shifter for the SS/SC or Redline . Now that I "made " the stock retainer work , the shifter is awesome . Im pretty peeved I had to do alot hacking to get 5th and reverse though . I havent called B&M yet , the last time I talked to tech there a aftermarket company ended up knowing more about what I needed to know they he did .

I know this thread is old but I wanna comment. I just installed my B&M and I had to do the grinding too. My reverse was fine but when I tried to go into 5th it would hit the gate. I mean I could get it in but it took some nudging so I ground the inside wall of the stock holder and now its fine.

I am like you though, ticks me off I had to grind on my stuff. Kinda honks me off.

I think I remember Vendian saying he had the same problem. He just lifted the collar like you would to go into reverse and it would go into 5th.

The shifter needs a liitle adjustment closer toward your right leg. I had the same problem at first and a wee adjustment fixed it, going into reverse was a little rough but after a few weeks the shifter wore down the retainer and it's not a problem anymore.
