Not bad for a 4cyl.

 

I think this might be old.

 

THis list is new. THe last one was the quickest cars under $25,000. In which the Cobalt SS/SC was #8 or something.
HEll to the yeah for us 2.4l guys. I'm actually surprised that the LS/LT Cobalt didn't slip in at 10th place or something, I swear they can be 16.0 seconds in the 1/4 stock.

 

the 2.2 should be at least 8th. many of us have destroyed the new civic and beaten the TC.

 

They probably didn't want to have 2 cars that are the same model (and only different trim levels) on the list, that's why they just took the faster (and more expensive) 2.4l SS...

 

v6 mustang...lol...the new v8's suck big nuts compared to the older v8 mustangs...cant wait for the 2 british guys to come to the U.S.A and test drive the cars like they suppose to be drivin..

something tells me that the next time car and driver does a test it will be under 25k and the Cobalt SS/SC will have to go against the caliber srt4,wrx Tr,Mazdaspeed3,and some other cars...i would be surprised if the cobalt pulls at least 5 place

 

yea there numbers are off alittle on the cobalt/g5 they say it governs at 118 when i have had mine to 125.

 

They already did one. Cobalt SS/SC came in at 8th. The SRT4 wasn't even on the list because I think retail price is > 25k

yea the SS/sc was 8th and the redline 5th...but the time dif was .1 second off lol

 

WOW...gti faster than cobalt...camry,wrx,eclipse..i have beaten all those cars by 1.5cars or more..stock vs stock..before my short shifter

 

thats the crap I hate and makes us 2.0 SC guys look bad. They rate us low which makes people talk ****. "torqueless Slow POS" as was said on the Vortex.

 

C/D TEST RESULTS:

Zero to 120 mph: 37.0 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 7.3 sec
Standing ź-mile: 15.7 sec @ 91 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 118 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 174 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.83 g

Somehow I don't understand how they got a 0-120 if it governor limited to 118...
Also, how did a 5-60 be slower then a 0-60. Sometimes these guys are strange with numbers. Just like with the SS/SC. It should of been rated way higher. However a 15.7 @ 91mph really is not to shabby for the 2.4l. Congrats on the second place finish fellow balts and G5s!

Wait, the Honda Base is faster then the Cobalt Base? I find that hard to believe...

oh, and nice numbers for the 2.4 ss, even though i thought they should be a little quicker in the quarter...

 

i think its funny that they use a supercharged cobalt for the picture

 

They rag on the auto transmission too, when the best times us 2.4l guys have in the 1/4 are from modded Autos.
And the Base cobalt should have gotten onto the bottom of this list somewhere. They walk all over the new civics.
