GM Stage 3, 2.9" pulley= TEH ****!

So I express shipped the 2.9" pulley out of the stage 3 kit, slapped that bitch on, added water wetter to the intercooler resevior, took it for a spin and weeeeee!

3rd gear pulls nasty at 17.5psi

I have stage 2, gmpp manifold, hahn downpipe, gmpp cat-back, aem cai, and now stage 3 pulley and water wetter.

fuggin sweet

and safe too!

i know im going to be excited to get 13's now, i ran a 14.05 with just the intake and stage 2, hopin the full exhaust and smaller pulley will bring her down a couple of tenths.

watter wetter is made by redline, i got mine for $8 at advance autoparts. Im sure other auto parts stores carry them. Basically its an aditive to your coolant that lowers the water temp.

You can add 4 cap fulls of water wetter per quart of coolant, so add 8 caps to your intercooler resevior since the coolant capacity of the intercooler is 2qts. It works better if you remove a quart of collant and add a quart of water, that way you have a 25/75 water to coolant mixture, then add 8 cap fulls of water wetter. That will make for the best results.

This should lower your IAT, making for a colder more dense air mixture, in turn making a better explosion. Will also help if you're running higher boost pressures against pre-detonation and knock.

I added some to my engine coolant as well, to help stabalize the temps for hard pulls, not a good idea to make the engine coolant too low, it needs to stay above a certain temp to burn oils in the coolant and allow for correct thermostat operation.

The stage 3 pulley made that much of a noticeable difference? How much boost were you seeing with the stage 2 pulley?

about 15-15.5, the stage 2 pulley is 77.9mm, the stage 3 is 76mm.

Thanks n8dogg! I'm going to have to try it with my 2.9 thats on the way.

I am glad to hear that the pulley works well for you, I am planning on doing this one at some point in the future, but for the 3289742938742nd time, ITS NOT A 2.9" PULLEY!!!
76mm = 3.06"
stage 2 is ~3.1"

you aren't in the 13's? I run very consistant 13.9's....and all I have is stage 2 with a 2.79 pulley...did the intake make a big difference?

and for the original poster, very cool man! 17.5 pounds, very cool. and with just a 2.9? post some vids and or pics including your boost gauge. kudos my man!

WRONG..

76mm = 2.9921 inches

79mm = 3.1102

and a side note.. GM claims the 76mm is a 2.9" pulley.. but a TRUE 2.90" pulley (what i have) is 73.66mm.

At any rate it is not a 2.9" pulley. Sorry I must have had my math off or something
I stand corrected.

the gm stage 3 is junk..no a/c for 1...that the 2.9 pulley is actually a 2.999..the only good thing is the endplate ..if you go stage 2 with a 2.9 and a tune and the endplate you'd probly lay down more power

Makes it so you coolant makes two simultaneous trips through the intercooler instead of one long trip. Keeps you intake charge post supercharger cooler.

I have the exact same pulley and have had it for about 3 months now. 17.5lbs of boost is highly unlikely as I am pulling 16.5lbs of boost.

Well thats why your most likely making more power then he is kenhebe.

Why does everyone get all super excited with the "I hit over 17psi!!!". Guess what, you want to lower that psi with the same air flow. Cool and condense the charge. It will make more power and not put as much stress on the engine.
