View Full Version : Help making my 2.4L SS faster
fbaero10 05-01-2007, 10:04 PM I am looking around, is there people out there that hooked up the 2.4L to really get it moving. I would like to know if there is a S/C package upgrade out there, i dont know if there is because of the S/C is a 2.0L, just a few things, or if there are turbo kits out there. Any help would be appreciated. If i find something that a really like, i will give some $ to the person who helps. Thanks guys.
My fiance loved my SS so much she went out and got a LS cobalt. lol. so we are really doing the whole his and her thing lol.
Jimmys2007CobaltSS/C 05-01-2007, 10:07 PM theres two turbo kits for the 2.4 ss...one is the alpine an d the other one is a garrett...theres really no good tuning right now for it...you can also get the ss/sc injectors with a 2.2 harness and getted tune...cold air intakes...injen is a popular one and a catback exhaust GMPP is a good one also...what part of PA do you live in
fbaero10 05-01-2007, 10:59 PM I am from Berks country, Which is not far away from you at all actually. Where did you get some of your parts from? all online?
celicacobalt 05-02-2007, 12:13 AM i have the garrett turbo kit but tuning is the issue, im looking to have it tuned right by the end of this month though so youll be able to see what this little engine is really capable of.
fbaero10 05-02-2007, 03:24 PM alright im looking into a turbo kit for sure, i found an ecu computer for 599 (399 if i send in mine) i think it would be worth it, but just incase you guys can check it out here

celicacobalt 05-02-2007, 06:56 PM yeah but thats just a tuned pcm for a bolt on 2.4 , for a turbo 2.4 that company couldnt help you. youll need a local tuner with hp tuners to tune your pcm and i dont know for sure yet but probably another piggyback to read boost since our stock pcm cant read boost properly.

seems like your really new to this , normally people order there parts online to get the best prices , if i were you i would look into getting used exhaust parts just to save some money for the turbo if you plan on getting it, and lastly use the search button its crucial

texlonghorn1212 05-08-2007, 12:34 AM the dealership here says they would put the cav. 2.4L s/c on mine they also said they would put the 2.0 s/c and do all the internals for me
fbaero10 05-08-2007, 02:01 PM what you talking about the 2.4L s/c lol there isnt one my man. and how much for their 2.0 SC engine swap lol a dealer. lol your looking at like 10,000 haha
fbaero10 05-14-2007, 02:55 PM Alright, so i called the dealer today, and they said the only way my warranty would still be intact for my car is if i use GM parts, so i guess that makes me stuck with the GMPP exhaust.. is there an intake out there made by gm? cause i would really like an intake before i get my exhaust any ways.. any help guys?
-Jayson- 05-14-2007, 04:05 PM fbaero10 im gonna be honest with you. Dont waste your money. An intake and exhaust arent going to make you happy with the car. Since your stuck on buying GM parts, you gonna spend somewhere around 750 bucks and get maybe 15HP. YOur engine is a bad engine to turbo because its stock compressiong is 11.5:1 which is just way to high to add any sort of reliable boost to that.

Wrong. LE5 runs 10.4:1 CR from the factory.
Wiseco makes 8.8:1 forged pistons for the motor as well. You should be able to run up to 14psi on the stock motor... but I wouldn't run more than 10psi personally until getting the Wiseco pistons.

I like your dealer for telling you this, even if it's probably a bunch of fluff.

haha yea i dont get that either.
But does anyone else know any truth to this? in order to keep my factory warranty, do i HAVE to put on GM PP ?
