do u have to use synthetic oil?
i just wasnt sure if it was a nessesity, i have always used it without even thinking about it. but my friend just bought one and didint know for sure. i told him just to use mobil one. I can understand where he was coming from, he's in high school. 60.00 in oil change, not cheap.

Yes mobile one only. Where are you getting your oil at, a 6 pack of mobile one cost 37.99 around here and we need 7 plus a filter. $60 bucks for an oil change is not bad, but I would rather do it myself then someone else touch my car.
i work at a dealership. my buddy does mine. he puts on all my parts for free. and like i said i have always used mobile 1. just cause thats what he put in there. I just told my friend i would find out if there were any other options.
Occasionally I miss not having a 2.0 because I would like to use regular oil in it. I'm sure it would work perfectly (although it would probably void the warranty beause regular oil doesn't meet the special spec they specify for that engine). Honestly, I'm convinced the "Mobil 1 only" is more of a marketing tool than a true need for special oil. Same with Corvettes and other cars which come from the factory with synthetic - Mobil probably pays GM to print their name on the oil caps, but the resulting free advertising for Mobil is priceless. You can bet Castrol, Pennzoil, Havoline, etc wish they had thought of it first.
I've found it the cheapest at Sam's Club. Mobile 1 - 6 quarts - For $29.62 Bringin it to about 42 to change the oil on my ss sc
