Are our cars "Pigs" after 80-100 MPH?

2.4L 2007 (5Speed) Mods: Injen CAI
A guy in a 4 door civic 2000-2005(I think the ES model) was in front of me doing around 80 MPH. He started to pull away, so I decided to try and "reel" him in. I put it in 4th and I thought I would pull up pretty fast on him. No sir, I think I might have creeped up on him a little, but I thought my car had more in her.

I was thinking either it was modded with NOS or I got beaten by the classic Civic higher redline.

What gives?

I'm guessing your drivin a manual tranny. At 80mph, couldn't you have dropped her into 3rd?? Maybe I'm tired...please correct me if I'm wrong

At 80 mph 3rd is the pull gear. Trust me a Civic ES redline doesn't matter. If he had NOS you wouldn't have made it anywhere near him. I think it was just an error in downshift thats all, no sweat. Maybe you'll get him next time!

Hehe NP, I'm super tired here at work too
Yea, she is a 5-Speed. I didn't bother putting her to third as I already was getting close to 100 MPH and I didn't want to launch a piston into space

I would not even waste my gas on the next time with that type of civic. Next time tell the girl not to race from a 80mph roll lol. Tell him to go from a dig. You should crush one of those cars pretty well.

^ Yea hes right. Small engines with only 4 cylinders have less high end then a bigger motor. Starts to die down, but that has nothing to do with the civic. If he was already on it, it just was not a race. Another words as they would say in Pinks, he jumped it.

Sorry to throw my 2.2L comment in here, but...

At the track my first time w/ my 'balt, I was killing a civic w/ a B18C swap (w/ race interior) until I got to about 70mph, and then he just creaped on past me. I had him by about a half car from the start, pulled on him till about the 1/8th mile, and then he reeled me in and passed at the 1000ft mark.

Our cars are pigs from 80+.

darksargent your only hitting 6400 redline do you have a 2.4???? the redline should be about 6850 on a 2.4 thats stock. i have a new redline. mine is about 7100 for all gears. but i also have all parts listed and tuned so she really smokes now. i think i can hit atleast 85 at 6800 im not sure i dont remember ill have to run it again soon. well ill check back on that one.

Yeah, no my redline/fuel cutoff is a bit higher, but I tend to like to shift before 6500 after reading a lot about the 2.4 running extremely lean due to the stock injectors.
