Question Edmonton 1/4 mile times for SS S/C ????

I just bought my SS S/C 3 months ago and I can't wait to take it to the track to test out my 1/4 mile times. I was just curious if people that have raced at Castrol Raceway (Budweiser.. whatever the hell it's called now) could let me know what their times were. I've got a couple cocky Mustang and SRT-4 friends who are telling me that I will be lucky if I get 15.5 in the 1/4 mile.... I hope they are wrong.

haha 15.5 if you dont know how to shift your car..

people on here get anywhere from 14.4 to 15 seconds on the 1/4 mile, stock.. all depends on how you shift, and how you start

In Calgary, a couple of people managed to get a 14.9 stock. Since Edmonton is a bit lower altitude, times could be slightly better.

youll probably be in the 15s first time out im sorry to say.
these cars are a real trip to launch....and our altitude tends to keep us from getting the times were used to seeing on this board.

My best first time ever to the track was a 15.1 at 5300 relative altitude in calgary. with 1k on the clock and couldnt really drive the car for ****
I managed a 14.7 last year at bud after a few more weeks of practice and a dropin filter.
sadly the season ended last year with only a few tries for me, and still being very new to the car. this year im sure will be better, with enough experience to actually
know how to launch it properly hehe.

Im a member over at SRT4OA, and they have some very very fast skittles in alberta, mostly all pretty cool guys too.
just dont be shocked when you see multiple skittles in the 11s and 12s at alberta tracks

Yeah, I have noticed this car is a total bitch to get a good launch with. My goal is to get at least 15 seconds flat, anything much slower and I'll be pissed

haha dont warm them up? like at all? you need to bring them up to regular operating temp, or SLIGHTLY higher and clean the dirt off. drop the tire pressure down some too

You have to get them hot, and clean all the crap off, yes.
You guys have great tires stock, it is just because they are 18's that it is hard to get good launches.
You just have to learn to peddle the throttle off the line a bit.
Also, don't let the pressure down too low or the middle of the tire will fold in, and you'll have no traction.
I made th4 mistake of buying street tires with stiff sidewalls for drag racing because tehy were cheaper than drag radials etc. I use to smoke them a bit, got 2.0 and low 2.1 60ft's on them.
Edmonton is sticky, Cody ran a 13.9 up there I think, so mid 14's are doable, with some 15's coming at the start I'm sure.

Cody ran a 13.9, but he also did some wieght mods to the car when he did it I believe. He took out the rear seat, spare tire, jack and the front left fog light to give it ram air.

good luck

Yeah; first night I went out, my best was a 15.5. The car is pretty rough to launch, and I only got 3 runs to try :/

Had a decent launch on the last run and misshifted into 3rd, boooyahhhhh, still ended up with a 15.5 though. So low 15's are probably pretty doable.

Just drop the tires to 20psi, on street tires not much point on doing burnouts, I you feel the need to do one just do a quick sqwak of the tires.

As for launching, they are very hard to do so, even modulating the throttle at the begining.

13.9 @ 109 mph, the potential is there but I think to get really good times we will need to drop the tire size on the car.

Well I raced 3 times last night, I had shitty starts every time but managed 3 almost identical times of 15.15, 15.18 & 15.17. I'm not too impressed but we'll see what I can get next week with intake and exhaust installed.

What about the SS N/A what should I be getting in the 1/4 in the 2.4... im from PA i dont know the elevation, if someone could find that out also that would be cool. its maple grove raceway. They have a site too. But yea I ran 3 runs, none of which was with a launch and i ran a 16.01, 16.04, and a 16.10

The rear seat and spare tire/jack probably weigh somewhere around 50lbs. Its probably not worth the effort. In fact I'm almost certain of it. Unless you're running a consistent time, its pointless.
