Thumbs down Cobalt in the Garage Already

Well on my way to work last night, just merging onto the highway. Went to shift into third and heard a pretty loud snap, and the Info center said "Engine Power Reduced" and the CEL was flashing.

The car wouldn't go above 60kmph on the highway which was pretty bad, and I could'nt even make it up hills. Finally got to work after takin 30 mins (usually a 10 minute drive). Went out on break and the car seemed to be working good. Well when I left work at 12 am I got about 100 feet down the road and I just couldn't go anywhere. Ended up calling a tow truck and one in the morning and getting it towed right into the dealership.

Turns out it was the throttle body, which the dealership has the order in, so I won't have the car back till thursday night

Well Atleast i bought the warrenty thankfully

They are trying to find me a rental right now, I'm gonna have to get my dad to drive me into the dealership or something to pick it up before work.

I don't really know much about the internals and such yet, so I probably sound a little dumb lol. I'm trying to learn more as I go. But they just told me on the phone it was the whole throttle body assembly.

there is no cable in the cobalts throttle system...atleast on the 2.0 ss there isn't. Its throttle by wire. maybe the solenoid that controls the throtle plate position let go or some other form of electrical short.

I kinda knew something was gonna happen. Cause when I pulled out of my drive and I shifted into second gear I noticed I didnt has as much power, and when I got to 5000rpm, the car would jerk and make like a snapping noice. Kinda sounded like someone snapping a boomstick in half or something. Then I tryed it when I pulled onto the highway and that was all she wrote haha

hmm... definately let us know what the dealer says was wrong with the throttle body... it's all electrical so this could be very interesting.

Probably a bad servo on the butterfly valve.

is it me or are the throttle bodies failing more than the engines
