From Camaro Z28 to Cobalt SS/SC?

Hey guys
Gonna sell my 01 Z28(look for it in the classfields section) and am thinking of a replacement. Has anyone made the SS Supercharged Cobalt to LS1 Z28 Camaro switch before. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
TheCobalt

oh thought u were commenting on my earlier post, my bad. I'm selling my 01 Camaro Z/28 and just bought a SS/SC last night.

First off, the SS/SC is not a Z28. That's both a good and bad thing. Yeah, it doesn't have the LS-1's power. No it doesnt have the grumble of a v-8, and a certain cool factor.
However, it doesn't have leaky t-tops. It has all the modern GM toys, XM, nice interior ect ect. While it's not a LS-1, the 2.0 SC is no slouch and still accelerates very well. Handling is awesome, but then again im comparing that to a drag queen Z so...

All in all, in the face of rising gas prices, the need for a warrenty on aging f-body platforms I'm happing im makign the switch.

I traded in my 06 Cobalt SS for and 02 Camaro SS convertable (37K on it) .. no leaky T-Tops and they won't let me on the track .. but i really don't miss the Balt much. and its a lot Faster and Much more fun to drive.

I raced my SS/SC vs 01 Z28 and it was almost a dead tie.
I was stock and he had headers, we went from a 20mph roll upto around 100mph.

I have both

Love both

they are two TOTALLY different animals

And despite what peoples say.. my LS1 will destroy my cobalt in a straight line.

Cobalt.. traps 98-100mph stock

Camaro traps 108mph stock (when it was)

How do you think my camaro would do against a car that traps 118?? exactly.. 10mph makes a huge difference

For reference.. there are likely less than 10 cobalts that trap 108 or higher right now

HOWEVER, i enjoy both soo much

Heres what i traded in for the Cobalt. I really do miss this car but it had over 100,000 miles on it and somethings were starting to show signs of wear. Also I get so much better gas mileage out of my Cobalt.

I went from a 00 z28 to a hyundia accent now that was a change. Yes because of gas. That lasted 5 months before I could not stand it. Wanted a new car and Camaro is not available at this time. So I got the ss/sc. The cobalt actually feels faster but I don't think it is. It's just so much lighter feeling. Took a little while getting used to that much power on the front wheels but at least I don't have to worry about it much in the rain and yeah you can drive it in the snow. My z was an automatic so maybe that is why the balt feels faster. I think I'm way more obsesed over the balt then the camaro. Think the hardest thing I'm having trouble getting used to is that the camaro used to crusie on the highway at maybe max 2000 rpm and the cobalt is at least at 3. But besides that I love the balt.

Check out my sig. My other car is a WS6 TA.
I love my TA and would never sell her, but I would rather drive the Cobalt SS over the TA……..ANY DAY.
Love how light and quick this car is. Doesn’t have the heavy feeling to it as the f-bodies do

What, do I have to start writing "how-to's" on F-body's? I want what the guy who said "my ss/sc will pull hard on a full bolt-on LS1" is smoking. Seriously. The cars are two totally different animals, and the SS/SC is definately a better daily driver, but an F-body, setup right, is gonna destroy a setup SS/SC in every category but fuel economy.

The Cobalt is a great car, but let me be very clear- It will NEVER replace an LS1 car to me.

guys i third that, i owned a 99 ss with slp package. buddy i love my cobalt, and i loved my camaro. as everyone said they are two totally different animals, they can not even be compared rationally. muscle vs tuner. not the same platform in my mind. a full bolt on ls1 would absolutely destroy your cobalt, mine as well. your only hope in beating one is the driver has heart failure. your lucky to beat a stock one. and if you say you have done it, it was a convertible with someone who didn't know how to drive it. in my opinion the ls1 is an engineering marvel. they are pretty much bullet proof. a stock ls1 bottom end i believe can support up to 700hp. correct me if i am wrong people. as far as your pipe goes, gotta be crack in it
