It's rear wheel drive, not a very good comparison. It gets traction, FWD does not.

Its not a comparison, i posted to show the abilities of the motor thats all. If you said a stock internaled 2.4 can handle 390whp a year ago we would have been laughed at.

So slap on a turbo and be capable of running 12's with a 2.4. Hell yeah!

BTW notice I did say CAPABLE of running, its true FWD cars blow for traction.

Woot! 390 WHP out of a stock bottom end 2.4!

SS/SC guys we're comin for ya!

its still trapping 116mph so doesn't matter if its FWD or RWD...gives you an idea of the amount of power it has.

Yeah I don't understand people getting angry at the fact that it's a Solstice. This is awesome. The motor is the same as the Cobalt SS. This shows us that the motor can at least take a beating.

He's running at least 13.5psi on the stock motor from reading through his posts over there. Now I'm sure that will have an affect on the longevity of the stock motor... but at least we know that a mere 7-10psi is a safe starting point. Wiseco offers 8.8:1 forged pistons that would make a great addition to a turbo setup on this motor.

Now the only thing we have to watch out for is the tranny. I'm no expert on the manual 2.4L Cobalt transmission... but the auto tranny (4t45e) should be able to handle the 7-10psi range with just some careful tuning and maybe a cooler for good measure. The question is, how long will it last? Not everyone can afford a $3000 transmission build.

LewisSS tried tuning a piggyback... totally different. Celicacobalt had a tuner who didn't know what he was doing come in and try it. We think that we can tune his car... but we can't until he gets a wideband.

These cars can be tuned. We just need the correct equipment and the time.

i was informed that though the solstice has the same engine and pcm, the pcm operating system in the solstice is different from the operating system in the cobalt. thats why the tuning is so hard on the cobalt.

im sure once you guys are ready, ed at asap can let us use the dyno with the wideband he has so we can tune it.

I know that tuner told you it didn't matter... but I don't trust readings off of that kind of sensor. I don't think Al (witt) does either.

My install will be complete probably after next paycheck (2 weeks from today). After that we'll have a solid tune. I'm sure we can use it to help get yours up and running.

Haha... I've been decided. While everyone has been arguing and fussing about... I've been quietly stockpiling parts.

Sweet times, but fugly car.

Sorry, I just think the Solstice looks like something that was at once point sexy, and then got into a pile up car accident..........and was the car in the middle! That thing it just too damn stubby............they might as well have made the front and rear wheelwells just one big wheelwell, b/c they are so damn close together. I dunno, thats just me, but I personally think they are butt ugly. Same goes for the Sky. The Sky is a little bit better, as I think its got better body lines.........but its still ugly too, lol. (once again in my opinion).

Now as for their very distant cousin, the Opel Speedster, now those are pretty sexy.

old news, but still sweet...

doesnt mean it wont blow up, though.. 390WHP is alot of power..Bill Hahn has the money to test the limits, doesnt matter to him if it breaks..Probably his way of finalizing the specs of the kit
