What are good times on an 1/8 mile track?

Last night was my second time at the track & I ran 8 passes my 60' times are 2.37 with reaction times in .392 with top speed 76.50 my best et was 9.611 with top speed of 76.50.

my mods are
stg 2 with 2.8 pulley
Injen CAI
motor mount dampener

The GMPP Exhaust to come shortly!

The track is the pit lanes of the Iowa speedway it's really ungroomed & raw cement as far as a dragstrip so the traction is low in my opinion, later in the night it gets better with more rubber on the start lanes but over all it's close to a street launch.

Is there a way to figure what my times would equate to in the 1/4 or is that just simply not possable?
I wish we had a decent 1/4 mile track but this one is close & the people are fun to race with.
I ran a 6L GTO auto & smoked him but it was his 3rd time at the track
I ran 2 hondas both I won
1 Ford Focuse I smoked him bad but he was a young kid full of BS
2 races with another balt & I won both
1 with a sc Grand prix I lost from missing second as that should have been an easy kill
1 Mistibusi ? where he walked all over me

can i ask how warm it was when you ran? 60' can be cut down a lot, but i will agree with you that track preparation can hurt it. i am stock besides the injen and just went to the 1/4 mile where i live. my 60' was 2.21 on stock tires. reaction seems fine for your second time as it was mine too and i pulled like .5 haha. my et's in the 1/8th are usually about 9.3 or so. this was all with temps around 80 degrees basically at sealevel. my best run in the 1/4 was 14.22 with a 9.356 1/8th and doing 79.5 mph and a 2.31 60'. hope this might help you guage where your at.

Well it was mid to lower 80s here in Iowa & the dam humidity was 70% or so plus I dropped he front tire pressure down to 20 LBS to help with the take off but I have to pedal the hell out of first to get a decent 60'

Thanks for the info

I ran a 9.5 in the 1/8th bone stock, so you can definitely improve. You probably wouldn't do better than a 14.6 or so in the 1/4 with a 9.6 1/8th. just keep practicing.

At the 1/8 track down here, which is an old runway with really shitty track prep, my best run so far was a 9.17 at 79.9, 2.22 60 ft. Thats with about 80 degree weather and high humidity. I should be able to hit 8s with some ******* traction, but its a bitch to hook up at that track, most of the time i cant do better than a 2.4 60 foot.

wow. i might have to think about a new car rather than investing some money into it. i had a 2.31 60'(only .1 less than you) and ran 14.22 at 101 with only an intake. i love the car but this seem useless almost. especially when i beat a stage two more than once on the track

Blownssdel I feel the more power you add to these cars the more vital the lanch is as I was even thinking of putting my 3" pulley back on to see it that helps my 60'

You will see some pros detune there cars to match the track as some time the car can just be to fast out of the hole to lanch good?

Well I guess it all depend if you want a track car then you might want to buy a different one but for the money spent the Cabalts are not that bad on the road or track.

I'm happy with my runs I just needed something to compare to. With more practice & days with lower temps I should do abit better plus here in Iowa the Humidity kills!

I run this car for fun on the strip & if someone wants to be more serious then you need to drop some sereous money into your car just like anyother car.

I saw a older Cavi running high 7s but he had $10,000 in mods on it??

The more you want to play the more you have to pay

Yea alot of the whole thing is getting consistant on the Reaction times & then getting the lanch down & from there it's all flawless shifts.
So I agree its practice, practice, Practice !!!!

Tanks for posting your time as that helps give me an Idea

I ran another Balt that night he had
STG2, CAI Honed exhaust manifold & 3" custom exhaust on 17" tires

I have
STG2, CAI 2.8 Pulley & Ingals dampner I was on stock 18"

and I won by .658 with a some what crappy reaction of .392 as he had a .048

I have a video how can I post it ?
