I started this link because i have seen some threads lately with people having trouple getting rid/preventing water spots, well here is your answer :D

Some of you may have this, and some of you may not. I personally have like 3 of them because they are AWESOME! It is called The Absorber. After you do your final rinse bust out the absorber and use it to dry your car. You will get a water mark free shine everytime. I personally have one for my car, one for my rims, and one incase of emergency :guns: I've had one of mine for almost 2 years now and its still works like its new. Whats great is that they are washer safe, so when you get them dirty, throw them in the wash and they are like new. This is like a chamois (sp?) but 1000X better.

How much? around $10
Where can you find them? Target, wal-mart, advanced auto parts, autozone, k-mart, almost anything.

Here is a link w/ more info on it.

seriously, ESPECIALLY people with a black car, try the california water blade, and good quality apparel like the absorber...or anything microfiber.

once you see the difference you wont wash your car without them.

I just used mine on Friday for the first time and was amazed as well. Bought one on a whim because my chamois always leaves fibers behind. The thing dries like crazy and doesn't leave any crap behind. Definatley worth the $10.

you guys really should try the blade AND the towel...it's the best combo ever. Also, the only way it'll scratch is if you don't get your car nice and clean and if you don't make sure there is no grime present on the blade itself.

05-13-2007, 10:22 PM
the cali. water blades are awesome, they will scratch your paint if you don't wash your car very well, why wash it if you aren't going to get it clean?

I use the water blade to get the majority of the water off and then an absorber to get the little hard to reach areas. they are great for lots of stuff, I have 4 of them. I use them insted of towels at the pool, dry dishes with them, you name it. great stuff!

Evolvr2006
05-17-2007, 04:53 PM
Sorry guys, absorber for the HUGE loss. If you are going to use anything, a waffle weave towel or air (leafblower) is the only way to go. Regardless of how clean you think your paint is, the Absorber and the water blade are prone to pushing the dirt around, marring your paint.

Cobalt443
05-17-2007, 04:58 PM
I love the absorber and also, they make a mini absorber for about 7 bucks....I use that one for the rims and what not...they're a bit harder to come by than the regular sized ones though

I'll never use a water blade again :nono:

Cobalt_SSTuner
05-17-2007, 06:38 PM
they have a mini absorber? oh man, i gotta get me one of those!

an0malous
05-17-2007, 08:34 PM
the water blade can ONLY be used if you physically washed the paint....

IE no "touchless" stuff.....no using the washwand soap, then rinse and water wax, you have to get dirty and actually clean your paint with a microfiber mit and elbow grease to get all the contaminants and fine particles off the vehicle.
Ive been using one for ages, and I have never once seen it put a mark anywhere.

and if an absorber and blade "push around dirt" on a properly cleaned car....then so will any other method you choose.

leaf blower?
you might as well sandblast your paint.

Well, people have used leaf blowers or other variations of pressurized air many times and it's been safe. It all depends on where you're using it and how well you washed your car. I don't personally use this method, but I consider it better than using a waterblade or an absorber.

I guess it works for cheap. I'd rather spend a little more and get a real drying towel. I wouldn't use anything else on a customer's car.

Leaf blowers.. once you try it.. you'll wonder why you havnt before..

unfortuantely there are alot of us living in apartment land that currenly cannot get electricity to the car and the apt complex bans all car washing on its premesis. (bastards)

So in that case.. i am stuck with the absorber.. it works ok.. but people are always looking at me strange when im blowing on my car to get the water out of the cracks.

Im about the pickiest person when it comes to the detail of the camaro.. so making sure the absorber is in pristine condition is imperitive! any dirt gets on it, it gets washed before reuse.. Besides.. i only have to wash the camaro about once a year so its not a big deal.. 2k miles a year helps..

To all the guys using a leaf blower or thinking about it if you have access to an air compressor and a blow gun it works very well also. I have used one for about 8 months and love how it can get the water out of the small spcaes like lights lenses, window seals, the meshed inserts on the rear lip of the SS/SC, and my favorite use the lug holes on the wheels. No more water marks on the wheels when you move the car and water drips out:twothumbs

when im done washing and get the majority of the water off.. when i drive it more drips off and usually the car gets slightly dusty... not good when you want to wax it.. now its still dripping and dusty too..

Yea, the thing is...you're never going to be able to avoid all of the microscopic particles landing on your paint. The minute you start washing it, new stuff is already falling all over it...I noticed spring/pollen season is the WORSE...lol

I've been doing it for a long time now (I used to be against it because of the factors such as road grime...etc..etc.) but the trip I take is about 1/10th of a mile so I'm not too concerned
