but i dont know what any of the details (i.e Codes, ECM Unfriendly, Duration, and the intake and exhaust numbers) mean.

just wondering if anyone can help me out. and also, what set do you think would be best for me?

people have been having problems with cams so they took 'em out and put stock ones back in.. i suggest you wait a little while on that

You posted in the 2.2 section so I assume you have a 2.2L Ecotec.

Without clicking the link, I believe those cams are for a 2.0l supercharged engine. The cams you should look into are the ones available from Comp. They have 5 different street grinds and I think 4-5 race only grinds. If your vehicle has support by a tuning company to make computer modifications (HPTuners or aftermarket piggyback installed) you can try an aggresive grind. If not, I believe the Stage 1 grind is a great stock upgrade.

No, not require. A 2.2 liter's PCM is fueled by primarily the MAF. A cam upgrade won't usually mess with a MAF cal. If you go too aggressive however, you'll have to raise redline and idle, lessen the PCM's misfire detection, and add fuel at wide open throttle.

Edit: the link was for 2.2 cams. They would work, but haven't been tested on anyone's car here that I know of. Many Eco jbodies run the comp cams with sucess.

Cams are also a fairly significant modification. You should really only do them if you are trying to achieve some kind of specific shift in your powerband. If you are just looking for some simple power increases, stick with bolt-ons.

yeah i want higher power at higher RPMs. also planning a turbo setup at the end of the summer, but not sure if i want to risk it....

If you are planning on turboing, then just do that and leave your cams alone. After your turbo is working correctly you can consider cams then.

I'd say leave cams alone for now, theres no way to raise your redline and actually take full advantage of cams. there's no point in buying cams that shift your powerband upwards if you're still only taking it to 6500. mild cam grinds are not worth it IMO...you can make big power from cams so why waste your money on a mild cam grind.

anyway, the cams you'll want to consider for the 2.2 when you have a way to utilize the entire powerband are LZM triflow cams and Comp cams...

Comp's Street Turbo or Street Stage 1 grind are great grinds for an everyday driver whether or not you plan on going forced induction. Turbo Tech Racing has a good price on them iirc.

Why can't he raise his redline to take advantage of a wilder cam? I'm not great with Saturns but isn't that an L series in his sig? If it is, he has the ability to have his PCM modified.

Speaking of...when do 2.2 cobalts get support for eprom modding? Didn't SCT and someone else say they would have a solution by now?

You would think since the communication is the same on a 2.2 to what HPT already supports (I can scan a 2.2 with HP Scanner) reverse engineering of the security seed is all it would take. I would think.

I tried reading a 2.2 auto with HPTuners the other day to see if I could at least get TCM support and it wouldn't do it. :thumbsdow

Stage 1, turbo stage, and Supercharger stage, Comp Cams work with the stock ECU, we carry them @ www.TurboTechRacing.com

If you want stage 2 they will work with the HP Tuners and the Ferrea valve train would be a good upgrade also.

Stage 3 Req the full Ferrea valve train and a complete stand alone.
