Another SS tinted, cover them dots ...
Got my Cobalt tinted friday, man does it look sweet. Like others the tint on the back glass has to stop at the lovely dots that GM put on that glass. Well I had them put some black vinyl on the outside to avoid the untinted glass look of those 7 or so inches of no tint.
One shop I spoke to gave me the idea, but they wanted to put it in the inside. I went with the outside for ease of application and if it goes bad I can have any sign shop or the tint shop replace it. It looks good from outside and from the rear view mirror.

I swear mine are covered up...I can't really tell though maybe I should snap a pic to see if anyone can tell 100%. Looks good though...not minding the vinyl at all looks better than if it were to be uncovered.

they tinted my last rsx i had it had the same bubbles the cobalts have. not feeling the vinyl at all. the rest of the tint looks good though. they are lying to you and they can tint that area w/ the bubbles. take it to a better place where they do it.
Ya I thought of red but it would have made the glass look like it stops abruptly.
Ya I like the tint shop, they have been around for years and if I ever need the warranty they will be there, the other fly by night shops might just disappear...
The vinyl isnt that apparent when your on the road, you'd have to be up higher in a truck to really see most of it. And since its black you have to look more than a glance since now the back glass is just as dark with the tint.

My tint went over my dots with out any bubbles. It does have a slightly different look over the dots then not but still looks good. I dont mind the vinyl but it must hinder visablitly on a already not so visable window.
I had my cavalier done and didn't really have any problems with mine either. There is a patch that is about 2x2 inches at the corner where the dots begin at the top of the window, but other then that, the tint layed over the "dots" fine!
steer clear of a shop that says they can`t tint over the dots.
All you have to do to minimize the "silvering/shimmering" effect some people get is to sand the dots down. I thought everyone knew that..........
And vynal on the outside?

I've already had two previous catastrophic instances dealing with car interiors ...
the dots will come off with a razor blade, one of my friends did it on his car, and the guy that tints windows at our dealership does it on all the ones he does now, i guess he learned about it somewhere, try it out, let me know how it looks...... those stupid ass dots......
