Water seems to stay around the rear spoiler mounts on my 06 cobalt. I take a paper towel and dry it up the best I can -- until the paper towel doesn't get wet anymore. But even after that for days after washing the car I get water spots from water trapped there.

I always take mine on the freeway after I wash and dry it for a good 10 minutes of 70mph driving. This sucks all the water out of the nooks and crannies (don't get me started on the mirrors!). I then dry the wet spots when I get home, come out the next time to drive it and it's like she just left the showroom.

werd, dry your trunk and door jambs after you wash your car. Helps prevent premature rusting also.

This is why I don't use the carwash anymore and plus I do a way better job of cleaning it by hand, it's a waste of $5-$10.

As for the bumper always being dirty, Thank God for quick detailers :twothumbs

The SS/SC's get major dirt like that b/c of our wing. airflow goes over the top of the wing then straight down the back of the trunk and bumper... dumps all kinda dirt.

Just another lovely perk of owning one of these cars.

May sound kinda wacked but it's what I use .I've got a big ass leaf blower that I blow dry the car with.gets water out of all the places you can't see etc.Works for me.

Definately a good idea if you have one. It may look/sound a little strange... but it works every time.

Dangit! Someone beat me to it. Indeed the leafblower works the best!
It's just too bad the first time you go out driving it, the rear is covered in dust again!

Leafblower or pressurized air to get the jams easier. An exhaust shield should help keep your rear bumper from getting crap on it from the exhaust. Otherwise, a dirty rear bumper can be lessened in consistency with a proper wash and wax.

The problem is the large low pressure area of our rear bumper/trunklid.

Theres not much you can do about it... try and get an SUV then you'll see this X 10

Just a fact of aerodynamics..

You use paper towels to dry your car?

The rear of the car just collects dirt because of the air moving around the car. Just use some Megs QD to clean it up.

a trick i do for the trunk lid is open it up, dry all the water from around the lip of the lid, around where it meets the back bumper etc... then lower the trunk lid and blow into where the tail lights are, you will see all the water comming out of the lights. keep blowing and drying and voila! you wont have water streaks after..

i'll also leave the drunk lid up while the car is drying.

My sedan always gets a dirty ass after i wash it and drive it. ima try and get a BIG METAL wing and see if it changes the air flow at all.

I agree with this, I have a black G5 and Its dirty daily. The duster works great between washes

The Mr. clean car wash kit works pretty good getting all the water spots on most of the car. I then Use a ultra soft towel to dry up under the wing and around the trunk. Hepls alot, but I still miss water somwhere:cssNET:

A little off topic, but for you guys and ladies that have hard water or acid rain like
we do here,to remove the water spots from windows I use Weiman glass cooktop cleaner.
Works great for me.

I have found out the secret!! Some guy on here mentioned it to me a while back and i finally got around to doing it.

1) Wash the car

2) Dry the car very well, with microfiber preferably

3) Use a clay bar kit on the area of concern (in this case the top of the rear bumper)

4) Wax the crap out of the the area after you have clay bar'd it.

Works everytime!!! Will last months before you start to see dirt start to stick there again.

yes the leafblower works wonders, I use it when i dry off my streetbike. WAY too many damn crevisis for water to sit. Made me stop bitching about the water on the cobalt lol
