Removing the catalytic converter
Does anyone think there will be any gains for doing this. I am going to wait for borla, but in the mean time I was thinking of puting in a straight pipe? What about throwing engine codes? Thanks for the input in advance.
I know on my LS1 Trans Am I gained quite a bit of power from removing the cats (about 10 rwhp) and replacing with an offroad pipe. All you need to keep the car from throwing a CEL would be to replace the rear O2 sensor with an O2 simulator. I dont however know how much power this will give the 2.0 SC motor but if you have the resources to try it then what could it hurt.

Since the one on the SS is high flow you might gain 1-2 Max HP by removing it.
You can't really compare a 4cyl with a 2.5 inch exhaust to a V8 using a Y-Pipe with 2.25. The HP you gain in a F-Body is due to a better pipe (maybe even bigger) and a better collector where it goes to the intermidiate.

The only way you would gain any hp is if the cat is restrictive. On older vehicles you notice big gains because the cat that was removed was clogged up and now the exhaust is flowing like it should. I havn't looked at our cats but if they are a bigger and high flowing like I have heard, you wont notice anything but more noise.
