Guys, I need some car help

Hey everyone,

As some of you know, I've been having issues with my car, what I believe to be the cat causing mega power loss after the car warms, I need to get this fixed. I've tried to pull codes, and no codes are found, however there may be a pending code in the system.

I can't take it to the dealer right now, with the 3.0" GM Stage II pulley on there. I unfortunately don't have to original either.

Is there anyone here who can help me in this situation? Either to put an original pulley (if I can aquire one) back on or anything else?

Thanks,

Sean

Did you put the 3" on without the 42 pounders?

Has nothing to do with it, I've run like that for a year now, I don't beat on the car, it will boost fully and completely when first started.

I think your hooped.Gm won't cover you if you melted a piston.even if you put the stock pulley on they can tell what caused the failure.

If I melted a piston I would be blowing blue smoke out the back and wouldn't be driving around... I highly doubt that's the case. Read the original post.

True, being a warranty issue though, I don't want to pay.

That's awesome. How exactly does one drive around with a melted piston and not see blowby? Mr. Educated GM Service man?

meh... I've just heard stories of IDC of over 120% on the stock pulley, let alone a 3.0".

I think there is a flaw also in the calculation for IDC in HPtuners. I have logged my car using two seprate Histogram files and got two different readings for IDC. One was 90% and the other was just under 50%...hmmm

My scan guage gives 14-15 ms at WOT which equates to roughly 85-90% IDC with a 2.85 pulley.

Anything's possible, I have heard obviously otherwise as well as your statement but I believe it has as much to do with driving style and how the Computer reacts to it. Like I said, I really don't beat on my car, I'm very much a Grandma type driver with this thing. I really doubt that having my 3.0 inch pulley has harmed anything in any way.

I have however, observed a few cats going on these cars, and based on past expirence, that would be my guess onto what's going on. I won't know until I take it in though, we'll leave the complete Diagnosis to the people who warranty the car. We'll see.

I didn't say you had a melted piston, my point is gm likes to denie warranty whenever they can. They is a document with pictures of pistons and descriptions of failures that denies warranty

no Idea why they won't fix them. I think it is a factory defect.

Ahh I see. Well, I hope in my case, that isn't the case. My claim is definately not caused by any abuse. It's a GM, can you expect anything more for quality?

I haven't had a good expirence with this car, It'll be the last new GM product I own.

Leafy, I have today and tomorrow off, if you can pop by some time I have my stock pulley kicking around which you can borrow till we can put your 3" back on.

As for warrenty, its amazing what a dealership is willing to do once you go directly to gm customer assistance. Believe me I know first hand.
