whats the best and cheapest way to Delete the governor in my car?

 

assuming you have the 2.0 or 2.4: hptuners... but really the SS is drag limited so you wont be able to go much fast then the governor anyways.

..Just out of curiosity why would you want to go that fast anyways?

 

The 2.4 is governed to 130 mph, plenty fast enough. The 2.2 is set at 108 plenty fast enough for a car with its brakes.

Don't mess with it is the best advise I could give you. My Cavi shut off at 108 and I was running 14.7's in a 1/4 mile.

 

well, considering he has a supercharged in his sig, i would guess he has that.

my question is what mods do you have that you're going more than 140? i don't believe the ss/sc has a governor, but it's drag limited to 140 something i think.

 

well mine is a 05 ss/sc and it hits 134 but i have a stupit *** in my town that thinks his car is better then mine just b/c his will go 150 so i want to take it off on mine so i can go 160 and shut that ******* up!!! by the way he has a honda accord i hate honda's!!!

 

The SS/SC is not governed if you hit a wall at 134 then you need more HP is all. Besides what the hell is a top speed race anyway? Hell you could run him in a 1/4 so why worry?

 

i have a catback magnaflow and a cold air! at 134 the it backs off but still has 2,500 RPM to go before redline!!

 

Screw him just race him theres no need to go 160. let him be the one to get killed by going that fast. Good to see someone finally close to where I live

 

why race to 150? wow.....just dust him in the 1/2 mile from a dig,.... or from a 40 roll or however you want to do it.

 

so you're gonna see who can get the best top speed?? that's gay... doesn't prove anything at all... it's all about who can get there first... what does it matter if he can get to 150 and you can get to 134, but he's half a mile back when you're at 134.

and that's not a governor, it's drag limit. you won't go faster without upping the power.

 

That and the track here should be opening something soon so you can go there also get it on paper. and everytime he talks **** show the time slip

05 cobalt SS's are speed limited at 158 if memory serves me.

 

Yup, 05 and 06 are, and I haven't heard of that changing for 07.

This thread is going BAD places.

With just a cold air and exhaust, you're not going to hit 150 anyway, not enough HP to overcome the drag coefficient. 2nd it's goverened at 158, though I've heard of it shutting off sooner in 4th due to RPMs and not speed. 3rd this idea of a top speed race is just plain assinine. You might out match this guy but there are plenty more cars that go WAY higher than 150....

 

Honestly, Why go that fast? I say mod you car for acceleration and take him to a track with turns. See how much his top speed helps him them . Either wa, hope you beat him. I hope you plan on upgrading your brakes as well.

 

i'm still sticking with who cares about top speed... if it takes your boy 6 minutes to get to whatever, but takes you 45 seconds to get to whatever, his car is better because it goes "faster"? doestn' make any sense to me.

 

i thought the SS/SC was set at 147mph?
