It won't be for a while. He blew his motor too, he rebuilt it like mine. Crazyness. He's got a big turbo though, so he'll be pushin 500+ whp.

We flow benched the head today. Got 217.5 cfm out of the exhaust side, and 296.4 cfm out of the intake side. A little less than I was hoping from the exhaust side (still a SHIT LOAD better than the 161 cfm we got stock), and the intake side was badass, I was hopin for 300 cfm, and 296 is close enough!

Cool! I wouldnt mind seeing some photos of his SRT4 either.

Done for tonight. Got the head installed and torqued, and the cams installed and torqued. I was too tired to try and setup the timing chain, so I'll do that tomorrow. I would post pics but photobucket is messed up or something, cause the photos I sent from my phone aren't showing up on my account.

stick a torque wrench on them if you can and make sure you have over 60 lb/ft into them.

please do this and avoid the issue i ran into with there recommended 52ft/lb tq.

get the measurements off them. then cross them to an arp number. kung grip the bitches.

its just some basic m8 or m10 bolt.

nothing fancy.

id feel more comfortable with arp stuff in there. thats just me.

please do this and avoid the issue i ran into with there recommended 52ft/lb tq.

also, even if you left all the bolts loose the cams were allowed to travel the max of 20* the gears allow, you still wouldn't smack a valve.

your valve timeing would change, BUT the engine timeing would stay in-tact thus preserving the engine.

wouldn't make shit for power, but it would work.

This is my first time building an entire Ecotec engine (done a head swap a couple times). However, this is FAAARRRRR from my first time assembling an engine. I know about the dangers of timing the valvetrain and what not. Plus I will rotate the engine by hand to make sure everything clears. Fellas, I may be an idiot, but there is one thing I'm not, and thats an idiot :lol:

I also was super conservative with my launches cause I know the stock axles will snap like a twig with even a slight amount of wheel hop. I got the boost managment set up perfectly, but blew the motor before I got to take it back to the track.

By the way, the reason I haven't been working on it is because every time I touch it some bullshit thing happens where I take 2 steps back and one forward. Today, first thing I had to do was pull the fucking head off and install two stupid ass little plugs. Either way, the head is now bolted on, oil pump installed, crank pulley installed/torqued, idler pulley, belt tensioner, alternator, and oil pan.

My head unit is in my room. Its unusable. We took the front mounting plate off, and used a band saw to chop the unneeded part off, then glued the gauge panel to the mounting plate. Worked great, I would take the speakers out, but its too much of a pain in the ass.

I'm gettin a 2-step, WOT shift ignition cut (for consistant shifts), and a set of slicks. Consistant launches, shifts, and super reliable pump gas power (10-11 psi @ ~330-340 whp), should make for consistant mid 12's, and consistancy is what wins in braket racing ;)

Ok, another update. We decided its more work than its worth to try and drop the motor in the top. We spent ~4 hours trying to maneuver the son of a bitch into the engine bay. So we threw the motor in the back of my dads truck, and rolled the balt up onto his trailer. Today after work, we're takin it down to my friends work (he works at a dealership), and we're just gonna use the lift and install the motor from the bottom (the way GM recommends doing it).

THE PLAN was to finish it today, tow it home, finish plugging in the clips, and start the bitch up. Well, the guy that was helping us with the car, wouldn't answer his phone, and I didn't even get to touch my fucking car today!!! I got all the remaining stuff I needed to 100% finish my car, and I couldn't do shit. So fucking pissed :cussing:

Once again. Today, I couldn't get a hold of the guy, and my friend had surgery on his finger today. So my car is stuck at my friends work. I now have all the fittings I need, oil, coolant, ect. All I need to do is plug the wiring harness in, fill it with oil and coolant, and bleed the clutch, and drive it. Seriously, after we got Dan's motor in the car it was only 2 hours max before everything else was connected. I can assure you Dan's turbo mounting has more involved than a supercharged car.

Well it didn't get running. I'm sure with Dan's car, there was more than one person working on it. Where as in my case, everyone gives me shit about not having my car done, yet when its time to get it done, no one lifts a damn finger to help at all. So I spent the day working on it alone, obviously it didn't get done.

lol, when the motor started going back in my car it was easy getting everything connected, all the plugs only connect in one place, but yes doing it by usrself gets very boring

So I just said fuck this. However it is nice getting under the car, I have like 25 sq ft of shag carpeting that my neighbor gave me, so its uber comfortable under the car :lol:

i'd come out and help cam, but i'm a bit far now. i love working on these cars. and yah by yourself sucks, especially with getting the motor in to the car. me and 1 other guy got mine installed in about 4 hours. had we had one more person to help it would have gone much faster.

u know, it actually feels slow now, I was very shocked on the first pull it made 405whp on 20.3 psi, cracked it up 1/2 psi and wala 414whp. Needs some fine tuning, I just finished another car and really didn't feel like diving into mine
