Thermostat... can we go colder??? (i already searched)
I used to own a Grand Prix, and the stock Tstat was 194*... what we would do is put a 160* in there for the summer, and a 180* (or back to stock) in the winter.
I tried looking to see if anyone does that, or if it helps this car, but i could not find any information.
My questions are:
1. What is the stock Thermostat degree?
2. Can we replace it with a 180* or 160* tstat?

Call auto zone or the dealer and if they have one they will give you that option. You will just have to change it out in the winter if you get cold weather or your heater will not get as hot.
This is only true if you adjust the fans using HP tuners. Other wise at a light your car will eventually heat up to the temps that the computer is looking for; this will take longer than with a 180* thermostat.
While driving it will run cooler, and if you adjust the fans to come on sooner. But other than that it will still heat up. It simply opens all of the way at 160, from that point airflow is what determines holding it there.
Then why are you asking questions?

some cars you just do not do it.... all depends on how the engines run..
obviously for the Grand prix.. the colder the better..
I also had a SHO taurus, you wanted that thing around 190* for best performance, thus we leave the stock Tstat in.
To see if people do it on these cars..

Yeah. I personally would leave the stock thermostat in this car. I would just adjust the fan through hp tuners, but that's just me. Those SHOs are faster than people think haha.
I agree; if I were to change something, I would completely remove the tstat.

I don't believe anyone makes a replacement thermostat for our cars yet. I've looked at several places and all I can ever find is the stocker.
I believe going down to a 180 degree thermostat would help our cars out. I know they need to run at a certain temp for everything to function properly... but going over 200 is just too hot IMO.

By changing the fans through HP Tuners, you can keep the temperature under 190 at all times without changing the tstat, no problem.
