Launching

Just curious as to what you all launch your cars at, RPMs and such.

depends on so many things.

street or track?
tire pressure?
ambient temperature?
mods?

generally you have to keep these cars fairly low in the RPM, otherwise youll just tear up rubber and wheelhop.
if you get a real nice hot day on a sticky track, and have some traction mods to control the wheel hop, you can get a nice 3k launch.

its something you kinda gotta play with yourself to see what works.
and it will change with conditions.

well im not exactly sure what engine was in the 93 camaro......maybe an lt1 but im not positive. if it is the lt1 its gonna be a tough race to win from a dig........but you ll own the nissan no problem if you can drive. good luck

o and if you do change the tire pressure for the race remember air them back up cuz it will cause uneven tire wear over time.

any little bit will help when trying to make the car lighter, but i've been more of thinkin about takin out the back seats, so that people will stop sitting in the back of my car and ruining the leather

None of those will help noticeably. You want to launch the car at around 1700 rpm.

not only RPM, but dump the clutch or feather to 3,000 then stomp on it? That's what I do....

in my car which is 2.4 i launch at just b4 4000rpm thats where the max torque is. so therfor i dont get any wheel spin. this is with a good day hot track or cold track. its usually the same with my car. and if you launch it at 4000 then stomp on it at 5k then the car just flys no spinning. till you hit 2nd then she chirps a little one. but other than that i get a reaction of about .5 or less and the car is awsome.

ryan.

Launching a 2.4 at 4000 rpm is possible, but definately not in a 2.0. Hell, our cars make your torque at idle

for my car, with bald tires

on a day like today, would be 80 degrees, dry
mods, CAI, Exhaust, Ingalls Stiffy, Strut Bar
I rev up to about 2,000 and feather the clutch kinda and not fully floor the accelerater, then shift to second at about 6000 and then push it harder and then once i hit about 35 40 mph i floor it and she goes

Shift out of first at around 5500. Slam 2nd gear, and floor it.

Pump up the rears to 50. Drop the front to 23, burn em. E-brake to load the drivetrain at 2500-3000 to the point it won't go anywhere. 3rd horn blow ---quick release the e-brake and hit the gas. shift redline. see if that'll work.
