I got Continental ContiWinterContacts in 205/60/16. They sound like awesome tires, good in rain, snow, ice, and dry conditions and MUCH MUCH better highway tires than the Blizzaks. Blizzaks are great for rough winters, but if you only get snow once in a while or never get more than 6" there are other tires that might be better.

Here's a link:

You're leaving the 18s on? There is no way in hell I am leaving the stockers on my SS/SC. WAY too many potholes around here, those suckers would be bent to hell before January. A friend of mine tried to go the snow tire/stock rim route on his Jetta and ended up ruining 3 of the 4 rims, so I decided to go with steelies since the cost of 4 was still less than the cost of replacing one stock rim.

If the roads near you aren't bad, then you'll be fine though.

I got the exact same package. The reviews for the M3s are glowing. I'm actually looking forward to winter now.

I ordered a set of 4 of the 6 spoke 17"x7.5" aluminum wheels ($88USD each) with Pirelli Snow Sport tires from Tire Rack.

Ordered yesterday morning, UPS package tracking shows them on the truck for delivery today.

Check out Tire Rack's website, they offer nice winter tire and wheel packages that include mounting and balancing.

I thought about the steel wheels, but Tire Rack does not offer them any more. $88USD each for the aluminum wheels I bought seems worth it. Ohio's winters are not always god awful so it will be nice to have half way descent looking wheels when the weather is clear and the car is clean.

If I don't get a beater car by then, I'm going to go with just 15 inch steelies. Michigan isn't always the best during the winters. If you look at the price for tires, 15 inch is much cheaper then 17 or 18. Save your money for something you could use when spring hits, like a GM stage kit

I saw those but I wonder why TireRack doesn't have them on their website anymore?

That's all well and good except 16" is the smallest you can go on the SS/SC...
