running 2.8 pulley w/ 42.5 injectors. Will i have problems?
is it true with this setup the max i can go is 6k rpms? Would u recommend me to just get a 2.9 pulley to be on the safe side? And when i actually do the swap do i haveta retune or no??? And anyone recommend a pulley brand?
Basically, that's about right. The max you can go safely time and time again is around 6k. The injectors aren't just going to throw up a white flag the first time you take it to 7k, but it's still not a recommended course of action. Get a 2.9 and you should be fine. If you have GM Stage 2 you don't have to retune the car for a 2.9 but there's just something about a dyno tune for just your car that makes things smoother. I recommend a dyno tune to anyone looking for the most power out of their mods. ZZP makes good stuff and so does South Florida Pulley's. I had the SPHQ DUB system on my Cobalt and it was awesome.
Not true.
Everyone says it is very very bad. NOT TRUE! Some people have seen very close to 100% IDC with 2.8 pulley and 42.5's... but it really depends on where you live and the quality of air.
I've been running a 2.8 with stage 2 injectors for a year now. I'm not running too lean and my injectors don't "lose control of themselves". It is perfectly fine. If you end up running too much air and the injectors can't handle the proper amount of fuel... you get Fuel Cut (similar to that fuel cut when you hit redline). Turbo cars run into it all the time when they up the boost and the injectors can't handle it. You notice your car fuel cutting... switch pulleys. But it won't BLOW YOU CAR UP!
You don't NEED a retune. BUT, every modification will give you more of a gain with a retune. Even a CAI, you should technically retune. Just put on the pulley... disconnect the negative power cable... wait 2 minutes. Reconnect the cable, start the car... and go give it some hard running.

Is the elevation pretty high where you live? Where I live the elevation is rather high up I live in the moutains. I thought about going to a 2.9" pulley but I was afraid of running into problems.
Thank you man, well I probably wont' run a 2.8" but after I get my GMPP manifold and Downpipe I will consider getting the 2.9" pulley
If you have questions about how to QUICKLY install it with out having to learn yourself... just PM me.
This is just a weird question problem and just a guesstimate, but with the GMPP manifold, ZZP Downpipe with high flow cat, GMPP sport cat back, Stage 2 with 2.9" pulley how much HP should I be pushing? As said I just want a guesstimate is all.
guys, this car came from FL, so yea he needs a re-tune.
2.8 pulley+42#ers does NOT equal BOOM, im sick of seeing this, it depends on lots of factors, such as the tune, or elevation. (lots of factors)
i recommend you get rid of that tune, i keep seeing you asking all these questions about the car when you really dont know any history on the car. His car used to get walked by stock SS/SC's, the car used to bog badly when you would try and get on it. I would recommend getting the tune fixed or getting the GM Tune to be on the safe side, thats my opinion.

i already have a 2.8 i was consideing downgrading to prevent any problems with the 42.5 injectors
BIG difference in sound. My car is LOUD AS HELL at WOT! I love it! The more the cat breaks in... the louder it gets.

well obviously u would know more then i would, since u know the guy who sold it to me! And the reason why i keep asking same questions is because i keep getting mixed ANSWERS!!! Where can i get a GM TUNE and how much does that cost?

If it has an actual GM stage 2 on it, just take it to the dealership... and ask them to give you the stage 2 flash again. technically, you need the instruction sheet to get a code... but they might have a Stage 2 tune saved that they could give you. Usually will cost you 1 hour of labor. Just tell them it's acting goofy... and you want them to reflash it to see if that helps.

Thats kind of an odd question: Where can i get the GM Tune lol, hmm Gm dealer? but in your case sense you have the injectors you can find someone locally to flash a GM stage kit onto your car, i think i remember recommending this to you already but anyway........good luck with it
ya but like silverss said, when i bought this car, it was already tuned, and the car was originally located in florida
Manifold and Downpipe make an AMAZING difference! I love my GMPP Manifold & Cobalt Addiction downpipe... but I kind of wish i would have gotten Hahn's mani and DP... they look amazing, and Hahn has been working on GM's since the 80's... they do amazing work!
