Shifted and the damn thing twisted right off into my palm. Wonderful. thank goodness for the short shifter en route.

Yah they glued mine back on yesterday

 

That happened to me as well. 1st the top piece, so I glued back on. Next thing you know, I'm racing my friends Z-28 and the hole thing pops out!! Boot, knob springs!!! This is a piece of crap shifter.

 

Happened to me too, a little superglue fixes it. Yes the entire knob will pull off in your hand also.

 

Damn, at that I'm glad I don't have an SS/SC for that very reason. That sucks. I haven't had a prob. with my shifter *** (yet)

 

I almost had the exact same thing happen to me last week at the track, except in my case the whole knob popped off, not just the little silver part!

 

holy shiz! my top plastic piece popped off, but it looks like u got some leather there! damn... i'm deffinately getting a short throw, they come with a metal shifter right? is it all one piece does anyone know?

Yeah my entire knob (rubber part and everything) just popped right off. Took it to the dealer, and they're ordering me an entire new shifter assembly.

As far as the short shifters go, AFAIK they all come with screw-on knobs, compared to ours which just kinda push on.
